Alexander elected first VP of clubs
Susan Alexander is adding another hat to her already extensive collection.
Alexander is the first person from Marion to be elected as the first vice president of the Kentucky Federation of Women's Clubs. As the dean of chairmen, she will be overseeing the 78 chairmen throughout the state, including Judy Winn, the leadership chair of the Woman's Club of Marion.
"It's very exciting. I love the club work. It's one of those things that never grows old," Alexander said.
The Woman's Club of Marion is a member of General Federation of Women's Clubs, an international organization of volunteers, which is the largest in the world, Alexander said.
The chain of command goes General Federation of Women's Clubs to different state federations of women's clubs, including Kentucky Federation of Women's Clubs, to individual clubs like the Woman's Club of Marion.
Alexander is also the resident director of Fohs Hall Community Arts, executive director of Chamber of Commerce, Marion Main Street manager and on the board of Fohs Hall, Inc., to name just a few of her other positions within the community.
She humbly explains her list of accomplishments is "no different from anyone else who has a passion."
In her list of accomplishments, she is most proud of when she was the governor of the first district of women's clubs in Kentucky, her district was voted outstanding district in the state for two years in a row.
"While being involved in the state level with Kentucky Federation, I've made tons of friends from eastern Kentucky all the way to the farthest western part of the state. They're all great. It's volunteers making a difference," Alexander said.

Idol finalist appears at local church Sunday
Lacey Brown, one of American Idol's Top 12 finalists, will be a guest speaker at Life In Christ Church Sunday night. Her appearance, originally set for April 18, was rescheduled because she was required to return to California to film an "Idol Gives Back" segment for Wednesday night's show.
Brown is the daughter of David and Connie Hibbs Brown, of Texas, both of whom grew up in Marion and are Crittenden County High School graduates.
Because of her contract with American Idol, Brown will not be singing at the Life In Christ engagement; however, she will deliver an inspirational message and sign autographs for fans. A reception will follow.
