LADY ROCKETS CAPTURE 4TH CLASSIC
Crittenden County upset favorite Lyon County Saturday night 54-38 to capture the Second Region All A Classic championship and earn its fourth trip to the state tournament.
The small-school state tournament will be played starting Wednesday at Richmond. Although it's the Lady Rockets' fourth time to advance to the state's final 16, it's their first trip since 2001. Crittenden will play Louisville Holy Cross in the 11 a.m. (CST) game at McBrayer Arena. Tickets are on sale at Crittenden High School for $8.
Crittenden led from start to finish behind strong performances from Breanna and Jessica Cozart, who each scored 14 points. Jessi Hodge had 10 points and Ali Shuecraft added nine. The game was played at Smithland.
Defensively, Misty Wallace was a catalyst as Crittenden stopped Lyon's bigger lineup for the first time in three tries this season.
