Hill's netter sinks Union in
last second
After eight years as the Rocket skipper, Jimmy Croft finally got
his first win over Second Region foe and northern neighbor Union
County. A last-second shot by Tim Hill lifted Crittenden to a
thrilling 52-49 home win Friday.
After digging themselves a 33-17 halftime deficit, thanks to poor
defense and 6-of-23 shooting, the Rockets were much more aggressive
and intense during the second half.
Missing starting big man Zack Beverly, who is sidelined with an
injured hand, Cody Robinson and Nick Parker helped take up some
of that slack combining for 24 rebounds.
Freshman Tyler Guess also had a big second half, playing stellar
defense, scoring six points, grabbing five rebounds and handing
out two assists.
After Union County knotted the game at 49 on two free throws with
10 seconds remaining, Crittenden drove the length of the court
before Rocket guard Hill released a 22-footer with 0.8 left that
found nothing but the bottom of the net, giving his team an exciting
last-second victory.
The Rockets outscored Union 35-16 during second half action holding
them to icy 35 percent shooting.
While being disappointed with his club's performance in the first
half, the Rocket skipper was proud of the way it continued to
chip away after halftime.
