Tyner
Dennis Tyner, 57, of Salem, died Monday, Feb. 1, 2010 at Crittenden Health Systems.
He was a member of Emmaus Baptist Church. Tyner was employed by Potter and Brumfield for 27 years, and was most recently employed by the Crittenden-Livingston Water District.
Survivors include his daughters, Jennifer “Jae” Rodgers and Tammy Wallace, both of Marion; son, John Tyner of Salem; sisters, Deborah Paulson of Marion and Barbara Crowe of Cullman, Ala.; a brother, Jessie Howard Tyner of Salem; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services are at 1 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 4 at Boyd Funeral Directors in Salem. Burial will follow at Tyner’s Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call 5 p.m., to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Cobb
Blanton E. “Dab” Cobb, 79, of Smithland, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, at his residence.
He was a member of Smithland Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include his wife, LaDonn Cobb of Smithland; son, Terry Cobb of Smithland; daughter, Anna G. Taylor of Kuttawa; sisters, Erma Lee Leedle of Albuquerque, N.M., and Genetta Allen of Lebanon, Mo.; seven grandchildren; step-son, Michael Lane of Benton; three step-granddaughters; two step-grandsons; four step-great-granddaughters; five step- great-grandsons; and one step-brother, Billy W. Brown of Gallatin, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Randolph and Ina Effie Harris Cobb; two brothers, infant Cobb and Charles Cobb; three sisters, Myrtle Holcomb, Elwanda Baker and Bethel Cobb; one grandson; one great-granddaughter; one stepson, Danny K. Lane; and one step-grandson, Mikey Lane.
Cobb’s remains were cremated.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, Feb. 3, at Boyd Funeral Directors in Salem.


Boyd
Willie B. Boyd, 99, of Marion died Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, at Springlake Health and Rehabilitation Center in Salem.
She was a homemaker, school teacher, member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a charter member of Crittenden County Extension Homemakers and a member of Marion United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Stiegemeier of St. Charles, Mo.; a son, John Boyd of Marion; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Effie Watson Little; husband, Denzil H. Boyd; son, Denzil H. Boyd Jr.; and a grandson, Gregory Scott Boyd.
Funeral services were Sunday, Jan. 31 at Myers Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Wayne Garvey officiating. Burial was at Mapleview Cemetery.

Belt
Ethel Mae Ramage Belt, 92, of Salem, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010 at Crittenden Health Systems.
She was a member of Lola Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include two sons, Raymond Belt and wife Sharon of Marion and Deon Belt and wife Patricia of Salem; eight grandchildren, Steve Belt of Indianapolis, Ind., Darwin Belt of Ledbetter, Glenda Jo Green of Salem, Sharie Frazer of Marion, Boyce Leon Belt of Granite City, Ill., LaVonna Ennis of Springfield, Mo., David Belt of Ferguson, Mo., and Deonna McCord of Marion; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Corbett Everett Belt; two sons, Glendel Belt and Leon Belt; two brothers, Haskel Ramage and Erlin Ramage; one grandchild, Tonya Dawn Belt; and one great-grandchild, Faith Yancy. She was the daughter of Jessie L. and Etta Sisco Ramage.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 2 at Lola Pentecostal Church with Rev. Tim Fouts officiating. Burial was at Lola Pentecostal Church Cemetery.


Dukes
Willis Lee Dukes, 66, of Grand Rivers died Monday at his home.
He was a member of Higher Power Full Gospel Church in Eddyville and was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Korea, Germany and Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Shonda Dukes; three sons, Charles Dukes of Grand Rivers, Michael Dukes and wife Rhonda of Kevil, Wade Dukes and his wife Amy of Grand Rivers; one sister, Joyce Woodward of Smithland, two brothers, Troy Dukes of Grand Rivers and D.B. Dukes of Smithland; six grandsons, Joshua of Ft. Lewis, Wash., Christopher of Henderson, Martin Dukes, David Ray Dukes and Teddy Lee Dukes of Grand Rivers and Dallas Inman and Zachary Inman of Kevil; four granddaughters, Stephanie and Kimberly Dukes of Radcliffe, Keisha Dukes of Dycusburg, Kayla Dukes of Lone Oak; and three great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Donnie Dukes; and his parents, Frank and Elaine Doom Dukes.
Funeral services will be at noon Friday, Feb. 5 at Boyd Funeral Directors with the Rev. Kenny Morrow and Harold Gregory officiating. Burial will follow on his farm. Visitation is from 6-9 p.m., Thursday at Boyds.

Monroe
Elba Elizabeth Monroe, 86, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010.
She was born Sept. 11, 1923 in Marion, the daughter of Ed and Grace Beard Weldon. She was married to Charles Monroe of Salem in 1942. During their 67-year marriage, they lived in Salem, Kalispell, Mont., Lakes of The Four Seasons in Crown Point, Ind., and Nicholasville, Ky. She was a member of The Glen Park Baptist Church in Gary, Ind.
Monroe was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Eugene, James and Robert.
Survivors include her husband; son, Gerry Monroe and his wife Betty of Nicholasville; two grandchildren, Michael of Crown Point, Ind., and Renee of Louisville; two great-grandchildren, Lilly and Griffin; and a brother-in-law, James Monroe of Evansville, Ind.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, Feb. 2, at Boyd Funeral Directors in Salem.

Finnegan
Dorothy H. Finnegan, 80, of Southbury, Conn., died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010 at Pomperaug Woods Health Care Center in Southbury, Conn.
She was born June 22, 1929 in Sheridan, but has lived in Southbury, Conn., since 1998, previously residing in Evansville.
Finnegan was the wife of the late Charles Finnegan. Survivors include a daughter, Janet Walker and her husband Charles of Southbury, Conn.; two granddaughters, Stephanie Walker of Boston, Mass., and Ashley Walker of Southbury, Conn.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Harvey and Betty Agnes (Clark) Stallion; eight brothers; and five sisters; and her second husband, Alan Hite.
Finnegan attended Sacred Heart Church in Southbury, Conn., and Christ the King Church in Evansville.
Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 23 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel in Evansville.

Darnell
William “Wile E.” Darnell, 48, of Tolu died Friday, Jan. 22, 2010 in Marion.
Survivors include a daughter, Christy Fortune of Burna; sisters, Lela Sherer of Tolu and Agnes Armstrong of Marion; a grandson, Tremaine “Britches” Fortune; and granddaughters, Tasia and LaToni Fortune, all of Powderly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tobe and Corene Watson Darnell.
Memorial services were held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 27 at Myers Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Jimmy Porter officiating.

Nichols
Sarah Nelle Nichols, 73, of Marion died Monday at her home.
Survivors include her sister, Margaret Parrish of Marion; brothers, G.H. McMican of Marion and Charles McMican of Hatfield, Ind.; granddaughter, Mariah Nichols of Evansville; three stepchildren, Eric and Brian Nichols of Evansville, and Lisa Burk of Washington state; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Robert Ray Nichols; parents Charley and Ivy Lela Howard; and a sister.
Services were Wednesday, Jan. 27 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Burial was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Pauline Y. Writtenberry, 86, of Marion died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010 at Crittenden Hospital.
Survivors include six daughters Kathy Williams of Marion, Linda Boster, Carolyn Blandford and Janey Webb, all of Webster County, and Glenda Moore and Paula Tipton, both of Henderson County; a brother, Buddy York of Marion; sister, Rose Johnson Hoyne of Summerville Fla., 10 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren; and 14 great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl G. Writtenberry; a son, Paul Glenn; and two grandsons.
She was a member of Freedom Church and Eastern Star.
Funeral services were Thursday, Jan. 14 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Burial was at Rosebud Cemetery.

Glenn
Betty Lou Glenn, 70, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010 at her home.
She was a member of Seven Springs Baptist Church.
Surviving are her children, Tammy Brantley and Kenneth and James Penn, all of Marion; sisters, Loisteen Canada of Princeton; and Thelma Lynn Brown of Marion; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Glenn; three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were Sunday, Jan. 17 at Seven Springs Baptist Church. Burial was at Asbridge Cemetery.

Gass
Wilma Helen Gass, 73, of Clay, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010 at Crittenden Hospital. She attended Grace Baptist Church in Clay.
Surviving are her husband of 47 years, Jim Gass of Clay; four daughters, Vicki Clark of Providence, Terry Clark Crowell of Nebo, Tina Gass of Marion and Janet Caine of Columbia, Tenn.; four sons, Melvin Clark of St. Charles, Jimmy Dale Gass of Blackford, Wayne Gass of Sturgis and Bobby Gass of Philpot; three sisters, Wanda Nall and Janice Hamilton, both of Sturgis, and Hannah Ipock of Evansville; three brothers, Michael Ipock and Nathaniel Ipock, both of Evansville, and Stephen Ipock of Morganfield; 18 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Gass, in 2009.
Services were Jan. 19 at Vanover Funeral Home in Clay. Bro. Dale Williams officiated. Burial was in Blackford Cemetery.


Dorroh
James Robert Dorroh, 83, of Crayne died Friday, Jan. 15, 2010 at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.
He was a member of Crayne Presbyterian Church U.S.A., where he was an elder and Sunday school teacher. He was also a former board member of Fohs Hall Inc., in Marion, a member of the Crittenden County Genealogical Society and a farmer.
Surviving are his children, Patty Grimes of Louisville, Pamela and husband Roger Tinsley of Crayne and Robert and wife Michelle Dorroh of Newark, Ohio; grandchildren, Matthew of Louisville and Emily and Samantha of Crayne; step-grandsons, Jason, Curtis and Jared, all of Newark, Ohio; and one great-grandson, Mason of Louisville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie Dorroh and parents, William Robert and Ida Frances Dorroh.
Funeral services were Monday, Jan. 18 at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion. Burial was at Mapleview Cemetery.

Russell
Bettye Chandler Ham Russell, 67, of Show Low, Ariz., died Dec. 16, 2009.
She was born in 1942 in Marion to Jeff and Geneva Chandler.
Russell grew up on a farm and attended a one-room school until moving
with her family to Indiana where she graduated from Hammond Tech in
1959.
Russell married Arthur Ham in 1961 and they lived in Munster, Ind.,
with their four children until moving to Scottsdale, Ariz., in 1980.
Russell worked for Air Services International for almost 20 years.
Most recently she lived in Show Low with second husband Robert “Skip”
Russell and worked for helicopter company Overseas Aircraft Support.
Survivors include her siblings, Winfred “Bud” Chandler and wife
Louella, Effie Campbell and husband Bruce, Barbara Krueger and husband
Len, Nancy Weenig and husband Jay, Mary DeRolf, Judy King and husband
Dennis, Janet Hood and husband Randy; children: Bryan Ham, Lynette
Schauwecker and husband Richard, Gary Ham, Greg Ham; granddaughters:
Bryce, Chandler and Riley Schauwecker and Bryanne Ham; and her second
husband.
A remembrance gathering for family, friends and co-workers will be
held in the Spring of 2010.

Eaton
Marilyn June Eaton, 74, of Baldwin Park, Calif., died Jan. 10, 2010.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Russell C. Eaton; a
daughter Sara Dempsay of Phelan, Calif.; and a son, Russ and wife
Debbie Eaton of Marion; five brothers, six sisters, 11 grandchildren
and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lavina Spencer Seavers and
Erwin Seavers; three brothers; one sister; a son, a daughter; and a
great-grandson.
Burial will be at Glendora, Calif. Oakdale Funeral Home in Glendora is
in charge of arrangements.

Writtenberry
Pauline Y. Writtenberry, 86, of Marion died Tuesday Jan. 12, 2010 at
the Crittenden Hospital.
Survivors include six daughters Kathy Williams of Marion, Linda

Gillespie
Frank A. Gillespie, 91, of Marion died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009 at his home.
He was a retired river boat pilot, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a lifetime member of the Bigham Lodge #256. Gillespie went to work on the river in 1949 as a deck hand. When he retired in 1982, he had worked his way up to captain.
Surviving are his three daughters, Helen McConnell, Sue McDowell and Carolyn Hinchee, all of Marion; 10 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren; and 27 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Margie Gillespie in 2005 after almost 68 years of marriage; parents, Jack and Stella Gahgan Gillespie; and two brothers.
Graveside services were Sunday, Dec. 27 at Mount Zion Cemetery in Marion with Bro. Tommy Brown officiating. About 100 people attended the service. Gilbert Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Combs
Raymond Edward Combs, 60, of Providence died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009 at his home.
Survivors include his wife Ida L. Combs; a son, Tommy Lee Comes of Piney Creek, N.C.; two daughters, Donna Faye Trivett of Sparta, N.C., and Melissa Lyvon Crouse of Glade Valley, N.C.; two brothers, Roger Combs of Yakinville, N.C., and Odele Combs of Hillsville, Va.; two sisters, Barbara Cornett of Cleveland N.C., and Nancy Cannon of Gresham, S.C.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a step-son Raymond Finch of Sebree; two step-daughters Michelle Scott of Hopkinsville, Jeana Sanchez of Dixon; four step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
Cremation was handled by Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion.

Rustin
Clarence E. Rustin, 85, of Fredonia, died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009 at his home. He was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Ronald Earl Rustin and wife Linda of Fredonia; two daughters, Margaret Faye West and husband Steve of Princeton and Dianne Kitzman of Marion; three brothers, Everett Rustin and Lawrence Rustin, both of Princeton, and John Paul Rustin of Swortz Creek, Mich.; three grandchildren, Belinda Campbell and Tony, Sabrina Stokes and Richard Rustin; and six great-grandchildren, Alex and Anthony Campbell, Kailyn and Hudson Stokes and Breanna and Dalton Rustin.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Virginia Rustin; a brother, Eldon Rustin; a sister, Thelma Cook; and his parents, Gideon Darrell and Willie Frances Campbell Rustin.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Dec. 29 at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton. Burial was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Alexander
Larry Edward Alexander, 59, of Marion died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009.
Alexander was a member of Pleasant Grove General Baptist Church, where his father is the pastor.
He was born April 26, 1950 in Marion to Rev. Herbert and Rachel Arflack Alexander. His grandparents were the late Earl and Rosa Mae Arflack and the late Rev. Herbert Sr., and Birdie Alexander. He, alongside his father and brother, operated the family farm near Tolu for over 40 years.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Brenda Sue Belt Alexander, two daughters, Shannon Gail Alexander Glisson and husband Matt and Sherri Dawn Alexander Pruit and husband Scott Pruit; and two grandchildren, Cody Allen Pruit and Hilary Renna Pruit.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 27, at Boyd Funeral Directors in Salem with Rev. Gary Hardesty officiating. Burial was at Mapleview Cemetery in Marion.

Watson
Norris “Pete” W. Watson, 78, formerly of Salem died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009 at his home in Oakland City, Ind.
He was a retired truck driver and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a former member of the Cedar Grove Methodist Church, a member of the Winslow VFW and the Masonic Lodge #64 of Evansville.
He was born on Dec. 30, 1931 in Salem to Hershel and Alta Singleton Watson, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were two sisters and three brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Watson of Oakland City; son, Don Watson of Oakland City; daughter, Debby Harris of Velpen, Ind.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Watson of Michigan.
There was visitation Sunday, Jan. 3 at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City. Funeral services were Tuesday, Jan. 5 at Myers Funeral Home in Marion. Burial was at Salem Cemetery in Salem.

Little
Angela Marie Little, 25, of Crayne died Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Kevin Little of Crayne; daughters, Felonie and Linda Little, both of Crayne; step-daughter- Marylinda Sisco of Marion; father, Bobby Cudnik of Marion; mother, Lori Cole of Marion; and a brother, Robert “Boo” Cudnik of Marion.
Graveside services were Wednesday, Jan. 6 at Rosebud Cemetery in rural Crittenden County.
Myers Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Meeks
Mary Agnes Meeks, 83, of Marion died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009 at Livingston Hospital.
She was a housewife and member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Surviving are her two daughters, Patsy and husband Kenneth Locke and Faye and husband Tony Binkley both of Marion; son, Tommy and wife Alice Meeks of Marion, 23 grandchildren; several great- and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Beulah Hamby Fralick; husband, Eugene Meeks; sons Dale and Buddy Meeks and a daughter, Louise Givens.
Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 2 at Myers Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Roger Waters and Rev. Bill Crabtree officiating. Burial was at Mapleview Cemetery.
