Chittenden
Louis W. Chittenden, 59, of LaCenter, Ky., died Tuesday, June 23, 2009.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where he served as church treasurer and was a member of the Worship Team and United Methodist Men. He was general manager of Ballard County Co-Op in LaCenter for 23 years.
Survivors include his wife, Janice K. Chittenden of LaCenter; two daughters, Christianne Houston and husband Scott of Oxford, Ala., and Farrah J. Wright and husband Austin of Atlanta, Ga; three sons, Brian L. Chittenden and wife, Jackie of Kevil, Ky., Kevin W. Chittenden of Hartford, Conn., and Brent R. Chittenden of Athens, Ga., and fiancé Laura Landstrom of Austin, Tex.; grandchildren, Jack S. Houston and Kaler H. Chittenden; father, Lucian Chittenden; a sister, Shirley Merritt and husband Mike; two brothers, Barry Chittenden and wife Angie and Garry Chittenden and wife Sue; and several cousins and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Melva Dean Chittenden.
Funeral services were Friday, June 26 at Boyd Funeral Directors in Salem with Bro. Eddie Bromley officiating. Burial was at Bethel Cemetery in Joy.

Rushing
Edith M Rushing, 92, of South Elgin, Ill., formally of Marion, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009.
Survivors include her son, Richard Rushing and wife Kathy of South Elgin; a granddaughter, Lauren Rushing; and a grandson, Raymond Rushing.
Funeral services were Monday, June 29 at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion. Burial was at Mapleview Cemetery.
McNeely
Elizabeth Olive McNeely, 88, of Murray, formerly of Marion, died Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at the Murray-Calloway County Hospital.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Hodge of Murray; two sisters-in-law, Sylvia Jean Buck of Independence, Mo., and Virginia Lee Rice of Springfield, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Barney C. McNeely; her father, Guy Walker Olive; her mother, Lillian Heath Olive; and a sister, Mary Nelle Neff.
McNeely was the oldest member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Marion.
Funeral services were Friday, June 26 at Gilbert Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Crittenden County Relay For Life.
Akers
Velda M. Akers, 90, of Marion died Saturday, June 27, 2009 at the Crittenden Hospital.
Survivors include a son, Bobby Brown and wife Hazel of Marion; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Akers was proceeded in death by her husband, Lawernce “Sam” H. Akers.
Graveside services were Tuesday, June 3 at Dunn Springs Cemetery. Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion was in charge of arrangements.
Atchison
Rev. Alben Dean Atchison, 60, of Ledbetter died Friday, June 26, 2009 at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.
Rev. Atchison was pastor of Hopewell Cumberland Presbyterian Church, an NRA member and a graduate of Bethel College’s pastor’s program.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Atchison of Ledbetter; a daughter, Angie Fugate of Ledbetter; a son, Bryan Atchison of Salem; a sister, Suzanne Bedwell of Benton; a half-brother, William Atchison of Paris, Tenn.; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday, June 29 at Boyd Funeral Directors in Salem. Burial was at Hopewell Cemetery.
Lawless
Robert Daniel “Popeye” Lawless, 72, of Burna, died Thursday, June 25, 2009 at Western Baptist Hospital.
Survivors include his daughters, Brenda Campbell of Henderson, Angelia Lawless of Bowling Green and Alicia Carter of Kevil; a son, Jamey Lawless of Ledbetter; brothers, Ben Lawless of Smithland and Jesse Lawless of Burna; and four grandchildren.
Lawless was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Joe Lawless; and his parents, William and Elsie Mae Faulkner Lawless.
Graveside services were Monday, June 29 at Good Hope Cemetery. Boyd Funeral Directors in Salem was in charge of arrangements.
Nation
Robert Henry Nation, 83, died Monday, June 1, 2009 at Methodist Hospital in Henderson. He was a native of Crittenden County, born to Elder Doss Nation and Lavada in Repton.
He attended Mattoon school 11 years and was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Marines. He also taught Marine Cadets for 40 years at the Texas A&M University.
Survivors include his companion Betty Wilson Boyd of Henderson; and relatives in Ava, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth; and two brothers, J.T. and D.A. Nation.
Arrangements are pending in Ava, Missouri.

Winters
David R. Winters, 56, of Spotsville, Ky., died Friday, June 19, 2009 at St. Mary’s Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife Marcia Winters; three sons Chris Winters of Des Moines, Iowa and Justin Winters of Henderson and Damon Winters, both of Henderson, Ky.; and two daughters, Raven and Amy, both of Henderson; three granddaughters, Izabella Meridith of Henderson, Jenna Varble of Des Moines, Iowa and Hailey Winters of Henderson; a grandson, Dathan Winters of Henderson; his mother, Anna Carzella Winters and father Herbert Winters of Marion; and three brothers, Gary Winters of Hopkinsville, Bobby Winters of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Donnie Winters of Marion.
Winters was preceded in death by a son, Jason; and his grandparents Henry and Margaret Smith.
Funeral services were Monday, June 22 at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion. Burial was at Mexico Cemetery.
Beavers
Jerry “Roho” Beavers, 60, of Princeton, Ky., died at 1:18 p.m., Thursday, June 18, 2009 at Jennie Stuart Medical Center, Hopkinsville, following a short illness.
A native of Crittenden County, he was born Aug. 7, 1948, the son of Hattie Bell Turley Beavers and the late Marvin Welzie Beavers.
He was a towboat engineer and a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include his stepdaughter, Sherry Ward Fralick of Princeton, and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were Satudray at Walnut Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Faughn officiating. Burial was at Rowland Cemetery. Morgan’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangments.

Amy Gosser, 76, of Cave In Rock, Ill., died Saturday, June 20, 2009 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include her two daughters, Francis Elaine Mafield of Pittsburgh Ill., and Shelia Marie Lampert of Cave In Rock; a son, Marshall Gosser of Benton, Ky.; a brother Anual Suits of Indianapolis, Ind.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband Pete Gosser; four brothers, Orlando Suits, Joe Suits, Dale Suits and Weldon Suits; a sister, Edmona Seiner; and her mother and father, Gradie and John Suits.
Funeral services were Wednesday, June 24 at Potters Church in Cave In Rock. Burial was at Central Cemetery. Rose Gilbert Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Binkley
Carrie Jane Binkley, 69, of Salem died Saturday, June 20, 2009 at her residence.
She was of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include two sisters, Freda Sherley of Dunkirk, Ind., and Evelyn Lee of Salem; a brother, Charles Binkley of Paducah; five nephews; and one niece.
Binkley is the daughter of the late Charles and Juanita Bridwell Binkley.
Graveside services were Monday at Salem Cemetery. Boyd Funeral Directors was in charge of arrangements.

Watson
Mary Jane Watson, 67, of Marion died Friday, June 12, 2009 at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.
She was a member of Irene Rankin Circle Number 4 and Marion United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Robert K. “Buddy” Watson of Marion; children, John Watson of Fort Sill, Okla., and Marianne Ramsey of Hanson, Ky.; sisters, Ramona Brasher of Marion and Shirley Winters of Murray; brothers, Jerry Henry of Eddyville and Louie Henry of Florida; three grandchildren, Jonathan Watson of Fort Sill, Okla., and Samuel and Mary Kathleen Ramsey of Hanson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Reba Kinnis Henry.

Estelle Stone, 72, of Eddyville, Ky., died at 11:40 a.m., Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Caldwell County Hospital.
Stone was a former employee for Rogers Corporation in Chandler, Ariz. and a member of Crossroads Community Church in Eddyville.
Survivors include three daughters, Kim Kline of Cadiz, Doris Osenbau of Phoenix Ariz., and Jennifer Padilla of Marion; 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; one sister, Janice Hutchings of Decatur, Ill.; and one brother, George Wildermood of Westfield, Ind.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Claude “Bill” Stone; two sons, David Stone and Jim Stone; one sister, Denna Foster; one brother, Joe Wildermood; and her parents, George Wildermood Sr., and June Erickson Wildermood.
A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, June 20 at Crossroads Community Church in Eddyville with Pastor Bill Kline officiating.

Yates
Kenny Yates, 39, of Marion, formerly of Kuttawa, died at 10:48 a.m., Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at Caldwell County Hospital in Princeton.
He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by one son, Jake Ryan Yates; and one brother.
Survivors include a daughter, Kaitlyn Yates; one stepson, Gary Beebe; three stepdaughters, Trissa Beebe, Breana Beebe and Kelsey Riley, all of Marion; his parents, Homer Lynn and Maybelle Downing Yates of Kuttawa; two brothers, Edward Yates of Kuttawa and Stacey Yates of Burna; four sisters, Rosell Knight and Phyllis Dycus, both of Kuttawa, Marlena Hamby of Eddyville, and Connie Lyons of Kuttawa; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were Friday, June 5 at Dunn’s Funeral Home in Eddyville with the Rev. Jeremy Short and Rev. Carl Nelson officiating. Burial was at Macedonia Cemetery.
Andrews
L.J. Andrews, 66, of Paducah, died at 12:15 a.m., June 15, 2009 at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah. He was retired from New Page where he was an electrician and was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served as a paratrooper. Andrews was a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church where he served as the church treasurer. He loved to work in his flower gardens and had been an avid sky diver.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Carol Darnell Andrews; one son, Lawrence Andrews and wife Mary Jane of Paducah; his former daughter-in-law Gena Hicks and husband Scotty of West Paducah; two sisters, Mary Baugh and Dale Pugh, both of Grove Hill, Ala.; a brother-in-law Gerald and Jan Darnall of Fishers, Ind.; and three grandchildren Nathan, Kayla and Savannah Andrews, all of West Paducah.
Andrews was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Andrews; his parents, Luther and Etta V. Boyette Andrews; and a sister, Katie Clarke.
Funeral services were Wednesday, June 17 at Faith Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Asberry and Garner Smith officiating. Burial was at Liberty Cemetery in Graves County. Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah was in charge of arrangements.
Foster
Geneva McClure Foster, 86, formerly of Burna, died at 5:57 p.m., Friday, June 12, 2009 Newburgh Healthcare Center in Newburgh, Ind.
Foster was a retired homemaker and a long-time member of Hampton North Livingston Baptist Church. She was a very active and enthusiastic member of the Ladies Auxiliary American Legion Post 217 in Burna.
Survivors include her niece, Debbie Nelson of Evansville, Ind., and a great niece Donna Nelson of Evansville; great-great-niece and nephew Autumn and Logan; and sister-in-law, Ruby McClure of Elberfield, Ind. She was a cousin to the Kitchens family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, McGrew “Pete” Foster; her parents Rev. Roy McClure and Duke Wring McClure; and her brother, Lonnie McClure.
Funeral services were Monday at the chapel of Boyd Funeral Directors in Salem with Rev. Jim Wring and Rev. Ken Cummins officiating. Burial was at Hampton Cemetery.
Jackson
Floyd Monroe Jackson, 73, of Burna, died Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Livingston Hospital.
He was a member of New Life Pentecostal Church and he was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Janetta Jackson of Burna; daughter, Shelia Loveless of Burna; grandson, Derek Loveless and wife Kim of Burna; granddaughter, Deitra Loveless and husband Larry of Burna; great-grandsons, Jordan and Jaydon Loveless; great-granddaughters, Hannah and Micaela Suarez; sisters, Eulene Belt of Marion and Lucille Wayland of Golconda, Ill.; brother, James Marvin Jackson of Marion.
His parents were Monroe and Sarah Frances Stuart Jackson. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Roda Belt, Isabelle Garrett and Mary Gordey; and his brothers, Oather Jackson, Willie Lee Jackson, William Jackson and Authur Jackson.
Funeral services were Wednesday, June 17 at Boyd Funeral Directors in Salem with Rev. Tim Sprouse officiating. Burial was at Loveless Chapel Cemetery.

Owen
Kenneth Lynn Owen, 44, of Marion, died Sunday, June 7, 2009 at his residence.
Owen was a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. He was also a member of Broken Spokes Motorcycle Club and the Carpenters Union Local 357.
Survivors include his wife, Carmen Owen of Marion; daughter, Jerritt Hovey-Brown and husband Jason Brown of Morganfield; sons, Zachery Owen and Dakota Owen, both of Marion; sister, Vickie Hodges and husband Danny of Marion; brother, Steven Owen, and wife Christi of Joy; two nieces; three nephews and a great-nephew.
Owen was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Douglas and Anna Louise Herrick Owen.

Oakley
Clara Oakley, 81, of Princeton died at 6:40 a.m., Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Caldwell County Hospital.
She was retired with 29 years service as a practical nurse for Dr. Kenneth L. Barnes in Princeton. Oakley was a member of Second Baptist Church in Princeton.
Suvivors include her husband, Wes Oakley; a son, John R. Teer of Princeton; a step-son, John Oakley of Benton; a brother, Vernon “Cap” Stinnett of Crittenden County; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Roy, Sammy and Percy Stinnett; a sister, Ann Patton; and by her parents, Bill Stinnett and Macie Travis Stinnett.
Funeral services were Tuesday, June 9 at Lakeland Funeral Home Chapel in Eddyville with Rev. Darrell Eldridge officiating. Burial was at Dycusburg Cemetery in Dycusburg.

Georgia Alice Duvall, 102, of Marion died Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at Livingston Hospital in Salem.
She was a seamstress and attended Dunn Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Naomi Wright of Marion; grandchildren, Edward Wright, Melinda Wright and Philip Wright, all of Marion; and four great-grandchildren, Michael, Sallie, Zachery and Adam Wright, all of Marion.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Molten Duvall; a brother and a sister.
Funeral services were Saturday, May 30 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Burial was at Mapleview Cemetery.
Asbridge
Mary Adeline Asbridge, 72, of Salem, died Thursday, May 21, 2009 at the Calvin Johnson Care Center in Bellville, Ill.
She was a member of Loveless Chapel Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include a sister, Thelma Martin of Marion; brother, Roni Asbridge of Marion; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Allen Asbridge, Ray Asbridge and Elmer Asbridge; and one sister, Cora Childress. Her parents were Allie and Christine Lewis Asbridge.
Funeral services were Monday, May 25 at Boyd Funeral Directors in Salem with Bro. Lonnie Knight officiating. Burial was at Asbridge Cemetery.
Coughran
Charles Henry “Chuck” Coughran, 65, of Marion, formerly of Tumwater, Wash., died Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Jackson Purchase Medical Center in Mayfield.
Coughran was a member of Senior Softball USA, the Softball Players Association and a Senior Olympic Gold Medalist in softball.
Survivors include his wife, Michael Coughran of Marion; daughter, Stacy Crawford and husband Donald of Salem; two grandsons, Michael Tanner Crawford and Cooper Alexander Crawford.

Kenny Hill, 55, of Marion, died Saturday, May 30, 2009 in Marion.
He was a drill operator for the Rogers Group Quarry and member of Crayne Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his son, Duston Hill, of Marion; brothers, Terry Hill of Marion and Reggie Hill of Phoenix, Ariz; a grandson, Braydon Hill; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Clara Mae Porter Hill, his wife Carolyn Louise Hill, a brother, Eddie Hill; and sister, Judy Collyer.
Funeral services were Wednesday, June 3 at Myers Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Gary Hardesty and Rev. Herbert Alexander officiating. Burial was at Mapleview Cemetery.
Buchanan
Philip Buchanan, 68, of Dycusburg died at 3:54 p.m., Wednesday, May 27, 2009 in Lourdes Hospital in Paducah.
Buchanan was a retired nurse for Winchester House in Libertyville, Ill. He was a graduate of the College of Lake County (Ill.) School of Nursing. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Jason Wade and Ann Buchanan of Mayfield; one daughter, Becky Buchanan of San Antonio, Texas; two grandchildren, Chelsea Buchanan of Wisconsin and Carl Buchanan of Murray; one brother, Harold and wife Teresa Buchanan of Marion; four sisters, Dixie and husband Charlie Ray of Paducah, Darlene and husband Bill Tabor of Marion; Nancy Buchanan of Boaz and Rosalee Wallace of Crayne; and nieces and nephews, Mike, Ricky, Joe, Angie, Kim, Maryanne, Starla, Darren, Sherry, Linda, Tina, Rodney, LeeAnn and Kristi.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Wendell Buchanan; two sisters, Norma Nichols and Jeanette Sutton; and by his parents, Roy Buchanan and Lula Martin Buchanan.

Becky Mae Frailey, 46, of Providence, Ky., died Sunday, May 31 at her home.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis Keith Frailey of Providence; children, Jimmy Wayne Frailey, Jesse Lee Frailey and Joseph Keith Michael Frailey, all of Providence and Daniel Frailey of Marion; a stepson, Jason Dennis Frailey of Carmi, Ill.; and 10 grandchildren.

Lillian Macy Brantley, 73 of Marion died Thursday, May 21, 2009 at her home.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Robert M. Brantley of Marion; daughters, Depeka and husband Dale Croft of Marion; Sebrena and husband David Clark of Franklin, Ky., and Shaun and husband Shane McPherson of Tompkinsville, Ky.; a son, Robert Dane and wife Renee Brantley of Princeton, Ky.; sisters, Virginia Brantley, Birdie Workman, Janet Westendorff and Janey Heidrich, all of Marion; a brother, Danny Chandler of Marion; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Maybell Jones Chandler.

Bobby E. Russelburg 53, of Sturgis died Thursday, May 21, 2009 at his home.

Mary Ella Fox, 92, of Marion died Sunday, May 24, 2009 at Livingston Hospital.
Survivors include her son, J.C. and wife Edna Johnson of Crayne; a sister, Jean Moore of Picayune, Miss.; brothers, Junior Richardson of Picayune and Edgar Clay Richardson of Marion; four grandchildren, Lisa Williamson, Janie and husband Sam Patton, Tammie Fitzgerald and Sunshine Johnson, all of Marion; five great-grandchildren, Brittany Day of Sturgis, Chris Fitzgerald, Kendra Fitzgerald, Dustin Fox and Randi Williamson, all of Marion.

Doyle Glen Sisco, 51, of Marion died Sunday, May 24, 2009 at his home.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Sulpher Springs Baptist Church.
Suvivors include three children, Jason Sisco of Fredonia, Josh Sisco of Marion and Jennifer Gross of Minneola, Texas; parents, Charles and Geneva Stone Sisco of Marion; a brother, Don Sisco of Marion; sisters, Brenda Whitt and Lisa Smiley, both of Marion; and several grandchildren.

Greg Stephen Chittenden, 47, of Smithland died Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at Smithland.
Survivors include his wife, Barb Chittenden of Smithland; parents, George Lewis and Margaret Christine Driver Chittenden of Joy; daughter, Elizabeth Jo Chittenden of Golconda, Ill.; son, Greg Stephen Chittenden II of Smithland; brothers, Paul Wayne Chittenden of Burna, Robert Lewis Chittenden of Joy, Terry Chittenden of Smithland, Micky Chittenden of Burna, Tim Chittenden of Smithland and Johnny Chittenden of Carrsville; sisters, Cathy Curnel of Joy and Peggy Tinsley of Paris, Tenn.; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy Gertrude Paletti, 85, of Louisville died Monday, May 18, 2009 at the Forum at Brookside in Louisville. She was a member of The First Baptist Church of Middletown, Ky.
Surviving are her two children Ronnie B. Smithers and Jacqueline E. Powell, both of Louisville; three step-children, Marilyn Lose of Louisville, Barbara Strickland of Albany, Ga., and Paul Paletti Jr. of Louisville.
The funeral is at 2 p.m., Thursday at Pearson Chapel in Louisville. Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Visitation will also be held from 11 a.m., until 1:30 p.m., Friday May 22 at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion. Gaveside services are at 2 p.m., at Mexico Cemetery.

Burnie Edwin Bradford IV, 34, of Marion, died Satuday, May 16, 2009 at his residence.
He was of the Catholic faith.
Bradford is survived by his parents, Burnie and Theresa Vrana Bradford III of Marion; sisters, Theresa Hodge of Salem and Pauline Wright of Marion; daughters, Slene Stevens of Marion and Ariel Tinsley of Salem; a nephew Payne Bradford of Marion; and nieces, Rhonda Hodge Bradford and Arieal Wright, both of Marion.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Rhonda Bradford.

Thomas Ray “Tommy” Waters, 72, of Livingston County died May 6, 2009 at his sister’s home.
He was a member of Burna Missionary Baptist Church and worked at Kentucky Dam Village State Park for 32 years.
Survivors include his sisters, Larene Croft of Salem and Ruth Mae Rogers of Marion; a brother, Robert “Bob” Waters of Marion; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Franklin Eugene Waters and Gary Wayne Waters. His parents were George Franklin and Beulah Lee Smith Waters.

Rendell Boyd, 90 of Marion died Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at Crittenden Hospital.
He was a member of the Marion Baptist Church and a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his caretakers Charles and Pat Crayne of Marion.
Preceding him in death were his wife Frances Louise Boyd and parents Garrett and Nellie Boyd.

Lowry
Clifton Lowry, 87, of Owensboro, Ky., died Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at Owensboro Mercy Health Systems.
He was born on July 13, 1921 in Crittenden County, the only son of Harvey Lowry and Maude McConnell Lowry.
Dr. Lowry was a practicing general surgeon in Owensboro for more than 30 years. He graduated from Western Kentucky University and the University of Louisville, School of Medicine. He spent his naval years in the South Pacific during the World War II, having served aboard the USS Enterprise (CV-6) on Dec. 7, 1941 Peal Harbor Day.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Leonard Lowry; daughters, Jennifer Purdue and husband Johnny of Corydon; and Connie Sanders and husband Neil of Bellville, Ill.; son, Dr. David Lowry and wife Brenda of Owensboro; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Maxine Alexander of Paducah and Linda Lowry of Bremerton, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harvey and Maude McConnell Lowry; a son, Ancel Clay Lowry in 1982; and a sister, Evelyn Brown in 2003.

John Richard “Dickie” Tabor, 66, of Lexington, Ky. died Saturday, May 9, 2009.
Born Sept. 5, 1942 in Evansville, Ind., he was the son of the late John Robert and Ann Nichols Tabor.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah “Dedie” Tabor; a daughter, Kristin Moore; two sons, Jason and wife Ashley Tabor and Travis and wife Amanda Hatfield; seven grandchildren; and a sister, Donna and husband Milton Strader.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Joanna Tabor.
Tabor was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving for eight years and he was a retired project manager from IBM after 40 years. An avid fisherman, he was a member of the Bass Master Association and Porter Memorial Baptist Church.
Funeral services were Wednesday, May 13 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home in Lexington. Burial was at Blue Grass Memorial Gardens.

Rev. Wallace York, 79, Princeton, died at 6:45 p.m., Sunday, May 10, 2009, at the Princeton Health and Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness.
A native of Henderson County, he was born Aug. 11, 1929, the son of the late Hershael Wallace and Addie Elizabeth Abbott York.
Since moving to Princeton in 2000, York served as interim minister at the Second Baptist Church, the Donaldson Baptist Church in Caldwell County, Bethany Baptist Church in Lyon County and was currently serving at the Central Baptist Church in Marion.
He was a retired Baptist minister who served as minister at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Lexington, the First Baptist Church of Alexandria, was a missionary to Brazil with Baptist Faith Missions, and served as minister of Richland Baptist Church in Owen County, Olmstead Baptist Church, Julien Baptist Church, Grace Baptist Church and Twelve Ryan Baptist Church in Warren, Mich. In addition, he had served as associate minister at Ashland Avenue Baptist Church in Lexington.
A graduate of the Lexington Baptist College, he was the recipient of three honorary doctorate degrees.
He served nine years as dean of the Clarksville Baptist College, Clarksville, Tenn.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Hearn York; a son, Hershael York of Frankfort; two daughters, Karen and husband Chip Hutcheson of Princeton and Cynthia K. York of Lexington; a brother, Cecil York of Lexington; two sisters, Lula Mae Pryor of Georgetown, Esther Gilpin, Lexington; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Ron “Sleepy” Whitehead, 65, of Lake of Egypt, Ill., formerly of Sturgis, died at 8:50 p.m., Saturday, May 9, 2009 in Henderson.
He was a member of Lake of Egypt Christian Church, a master electrician and member of IBEW Local 1701. He was also a Kentucky Colonel.

Ruth Greenwell, 98, of Evansville, formerly of Morganfield, died at 1:29 p.m., Sunday, May 3, 2009 at Angel River Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was a member of Morganfield United Methodist Church and a member of D.A.R. She was an avid bridge player and an excellent "egger," crafting and decorating eggs as well as making doll clothes.
Survivors include one daughter, Marilyn Frayer of Evansville; one son, Bill Greenwell of Marion; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Robert and Catherine Amelia Wilkins Hughes; her husband, Bill Wolf Greenwell; sisters, Jean Mauzy and Katie Kramer; and a half brother, Bill Hughes.

George Earl Mitchell, 86, of Clay died at 7:47 a.m., Friday, May 1, 2009 at Shemwell Nursing Home in Providence.
He was born Aug. 6, 1922 in Clay to Henry and Mollie Mitchell. He graduated from Clay High School where he was captain of the football and basketball teams and president of his class. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, served on the Webster County Board of Education, the Clay City Council and had been a member of Webb Memorial United Methodist Church in Clay for over 70 years, where he was church treasurer for 25 years and taught Sunday school for over 50 years.
Mitchell worked for 23 years at O.B. Clark John Deere Implement Co., and 17 years for the postal service as a rural carrier.
Survivors include his daughter, Angie Newton of Bowling Green; his son, William E. Mitchell, who is Family Court Judge in Crittenden, Union, and Webster counties; four grandchildren, Joe Mitchell of Evansville, Mary Mitchell of Clay, Laura and Sarah Newton of Bowling Green; three great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Nathan Mitchell, both of Evansville and Brandon Mitchell of Clay.
He was preceded in death by his wife Juanita in 2007.

Douglas Payne Johnson, 68, of Lexington, Ky., died Friday, April 24, 2009 at his daughter's residence in Lexington.
He retired from Central Bank in commercial lending after having been with First Security Bank for 29 nine years. He was born Sept. 9, 1940 in Eubank, Ky., the son of the late Marvin M. and Marcella Payne Johnson. He was a graduate of Transylvania University where he was a member of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. He served as a trustee of Crestwood Christian Church where he was a member for 48 years. He was a member of The Lexington Club, Pyramid Club, Lion's Club, Central Bank Advisory Board and a former member of the Homebuilder's Association.
Survivors include two sons, Douglas Scott and wife Amy Johnson and David Crissman and wife Susie Johnson; daughter, Gina Johnson and husband John Welsch, all of Lexington; a sister, Linda and husband Doug Wooley of Marion; and seven grandchildren, Elizabeth, Julia and Molly Welsch, Wiles and Sarah Johnson, Mackenzie and Will Johnson.

Gerald Ratley, 64, of Sturgis died at 3 p.m., Saturday, April 18, 2008 in Sturgis.
Ratley was a prominent Union County businessman and had owned and operated Ratley Trucking Company for 46 years.

Ratley of Sturgis; mother, Thelma Ratley of Sturgis; sister, Linda Omer of Morganfield; two sons, Jeff Ratley of Sturgis and Casey Ratley of Sturgis; three brothers, Bobby Ratley, Johnny Ratley and Tony Ratley, all of Sturgis; four granddaughters, Mallory, Callie, Dylana and Brooklynn Ratley; and one grandson, William Ratley.

Susie “Sudie” M. Woodring, 81, of Ledbetter died at 2:23 p.m., Saturday, April 18, 2009 at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah.
She was a member of Hampton United Methodist Church and a 63-year member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary Post 217 in Burna.
Survivors include two sons, James A. Woodring and wife Roxie of Greenwood, Ind., Charles A. Woodring of Smithland; one daughter, Linda S. Warren of Ledbetter; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Vernon “Bud” Roberts of Evansville, Ind.; four sisters, Mayme Phillips of Ledbetter, Mary Helen Head of Burna, Rebecca “Sissy” Vertz of Chesapeake, Va., and Faye Roberts of Hampton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Roy A. Woodring; two brothers; and one sister. Her parents were Jim and Myrtie Roberts of Hampton.

Leon Hodge, 72, of Marion died Thursday, April 2, 2009 at Crittenden Hospital.
With more than 31 years at U.S. Steel, Gary Works, Hodge retired in 1986 as a supervisor/turn foreman. He served in the U.S. Army and Reserves and received an honorable discharge in May of 1965.
Hodge was preceded in death by his wife, Pearline Hodge; parents, Hughey and Cleo Belt Hodge; sister, Iva Jean Hall; and a step-son, Samuel Story.
Survivors include his daughters, Tanya (Dewey) Ramage of Marion, Cindy Hodge-Stoye of Bellvue, Mich., and Sandra Hodge of Portage, Ind. From his marriage with Pearline, surviving are Rodney and wife Margaret Duff, Patricia Capito and David Story. Also surviving are two sisters, Neta Pine and Naoma and husband Doyle Jennings, both of Marion; 16 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Saturday, April 4 at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion. Burial was at Mapleview Cemetery. Military rites were given at the cemetery on Saturday.

Howard Eugene Miller, 69, of Smithland, died Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Lourdes Hospital.
He was a member of McMurray Chapel Methodist Church, worked at CCMA in Calvert City for 39 years and was a member of UAW Local 523.
Survivors include his wife, Rowena Miller of Smithland; children, Genevia Smith and husband Larry of Reidland, Tommy Miller and wife Glenda of Smithland; granddaughter, Casie Blair and husband Daniel of Paducah; and grandson, Robby Smith of Reidland.
Miller was the son of Howard L. and Mattie Hardin Miller.

Dorothy B. Booker, 90, of Marion died Friday, April, 10 2009 her home.
She was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Marion and the Retired School Teachers Organization. Booker was a teacher in the Caldwell and Crittenden school systems for 39 years.
Survivors include a son, James D. Booker; two daughters, Joanne Winn of Fredonia and Judy Casebier of Lancaster, Ky.; seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clinton Booker and one grandchild.

Christene Driver, 90, of Marion, died at 12:40 p.m., Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Crittenden Health and Rehab.
She was a retired nurse’s aide at Hilltop Nursing Home.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Harris and wife Gladys of Fredonia and Jimmy Harris and wife Connie of Marion; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and one brother, Clarence Jennings of Salem.

She was a housewife, member of Marion Baptist Church, member of the Crittenden County Democratic Executive Committee, the Democrat Woman’s Club and the county liaison to the governor.
Survivors include her daughter, Jamie Gilkey, of Princeton, Ky.; one sister, Linda Purvis of Brandon, Miss.; grandchildren, Mandy Hooks, T.J. Gilkey and Kaitlyn Gilkey, all of Princeton, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews.

William Edwin Arflack, 87, of Marion died Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at Crittenden Hospital.
He was a retired rural mailcarrier and a member and deacon of Marion Baptist Church. Arflack was a U.S. Army Air World War II veteran. He was a member of the Bingham Lodge #256 F&AM and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Survivors include his wife, Willa Belle Arflack of Marion; a daughter, Mary Jo Delaney of Louisville; a son, Donald Arflack of Marion; brother, George E. Arflack of Lexington, Ky., and sisters, Virgie Reisinger of Lexington, Ky., and Grace Blair, Owensboro, Ky.; two grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

Jace Holloman, 52, of Columbia, S.C., died April 6, 2009 at his home.
He was formerly of Marion and served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Cecile Holmes-Holloman of Columbia; three sisters, Paulette Johnston of Hawesville, Paula Miniard and Charity Gray, both of Marion; and three brothers, Tom Holloman of Marion, Paul Holloman Jr. and Tim Holloman, both of Eddyville.

Imogene C. Stout, 90, of Marion died Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Crittenden Hospital.

He was born Jan 4, 1954 in Marion, the son of Clara Lee McCaddam Whitt and the late Willis Oliver Whitt.
He was a skilled trades team member at Toyota Manufacturing, a graduate of Western Kentucky University and a member of First Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Betsy Daugherty Whitt; a son, Allie Edmund Whitt of Bourbon County; a sister, Louisa Lee and husband Bill Towery of Marion; and several nieces and nephews.

L. Keith Shewcraft, 71, of Marion died Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at Crittenden Hospital in Marion.
He was a member of Fredonia First Baptist Church and a member of the National Trail Ride Association.
Surviving are his wife, Kay Shewcraft of Marion; son, Shelby Keith Shewcraft of Marion; daughters, Maria Lee Belt and Caryn Renee Steele both of Marion; brother, Carlton Shewcraft of Marion, Ill.; sisters, Betty Hodges of Marion, and Edna Macon, Dorothy Young, Nell Martin and Carolyn DeSpain, all of Owensboro, Ky., seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Shewcraft was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Oda Lee Patton Shewcraft.

Woodall
Wilbur "Woody" Arthur Woodall, 83, of Evansville, Ind., died Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at VNA Charlier Hospice Center.
He retired as director of finance for the United States Postal Service in Evansville, Ind. Woodall was a graduate of Marion High School and the University of Evansville. He served in the United States Army as a platoon sergeant during World War II and in the European campaigns where he received many decorations including two Purple Hearts, three Bronze Stars and a Presidential Unit Citation.
He was a 33rd Degree Mason, a 50-year active member of Lessing Lodge #464, where he was past master, High Twelve #240, Scottish Rite and the Hadi Temple. He was also a member of Fairlawn United Methodist Church and was head usher and lay leader for many years. He was named Kentucky Colonel and Duke of Paducah.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald Woodall and his wife Debbie of Downers Grove, Ill., Stephen G. Woodall and wife Darla of Evansville, Ind., a daughter-in-law, Rosalie Woodall of Evansville; sisters, Hilda Mae Alexander and her husband Charles of Crittenden County, Louise Ball of Evansville, Lois Miller of Henderson, Ky.; grandchildren, Julie Underwood and her husband Carl, Sarah Woodall, and Jessica Woodall all of Evansville, Lance Cpl. Andrew Woodall and his wife Cpl. Ashley Woodall of Jacksonville, N.C., great-grandchildren, Dean Underwood, Camryn Woodall; and many nieces and nephews.
Woodall was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Woodall in 2008; and son, Larry Woodall in 2007.

Imogene D. (Hardesty) Higginson Frohbieter Manchette, 83, of Evansville, Ind., died Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at Columbia Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on May 14, 1925, in Elizabethtown, Ill., but grew up in Marion where she graduated from Marion High School.
Early in her life she went to Evansville, Ind., to work at Servel Corp., during World War II. There she met and married Harley H. Higginson, Jr., a co-worker. She later worked at the Baby Shop Downtown, Dale Sales, Marshall Glove, Springfield Wife and finally Keller Crescent Corp.
Manchette was preceded in death by all of her siblings, her grandparents, Arthur and Ellen Nation Belt; her parents, Joseph H. and Pearl Belt Hardesty; and a son, N. Glenn Higginson. She was the last surviving sibling of a 16-member family.
Survivors include her sons, Don and wife Vicki Higginson and R. Harley and wife Jane Higginson; a daughter-in-law, Linda Higginson; six grandchildren, Dara, Kelly, Erinn, Yvette, Derick, and Cale Higginson; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Friday, March 20 at Alexander North Chapel in Evansville with burial at Sunset Memorial Park.

Infant Maryann Renee McDonald died March 4, 2009 at Livingston Hospital.

She worked for Riverview Hospital as a registered nurse. Graves was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church and a past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Radiant Chapter 200 in Noblesville.

Joseph J. Kirchgessner, 50, of Russiaville, Ind., died at 12:34 p.m., Friday, March 20, 2009 at Howard Regional Health Systems in Kokomo, Ind.
He was born July 20, 1958 in Gary, Ind., to Albert and Mary June (Patton) Kirchgessner. He graduated from Crittenden County High School in 1976 and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1976-80 in the Security Police Squadron 51. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Kirchgessner was the co-manager of Hobby Lobby for the past two years and had previously worked at Sterks Grocery in Illinois.
Survivors include his father, Albert Kirchgessner and wife Lisa of Burns Harbor, Ind.; his wife Kristina Kirchgessner of Russiaville; children, Joseph J. Kirchgessner of Columbia, S.C., and Sarah A. Kirchgessner and Corey J. Lt. Col. George Edward McKinney (ret.), 74, of Marion, died Friday, March 13, 2009 at Crittenden Hospital.
McKinney was a member of Deer Creek Baptist Church and was active in the jail ministry. He was a retired lieutenant colonel with over 35 years of active and reserve duty in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Croft McKinney of Marion; children, Marilyn Hearnsberger and husband Col. Brian Hearnsberger, U.S. Marines, of Oceanside, Calif., and Melissa and husband Tom Howell of Louisville; brother, Gerl McKinney of Hawesville, Ky.; a sister, Connie Williams of San Francisco, Calif.; and grandchildren, Matthew Howell, Andrew Howell and Grace Howell.
McKinney was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Florence Furr McKinney.

Evelyn Elizabeth May, 98, of Marion died Friday, March 6, 2009 at Crittenden County Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was 12 days short of her 99th birthday. May was a member of Old Salem Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Donald May of Gilbertsville and Billy Joe May of Marion; five grandchildren, Patricia Jo Waddell, Donna Jo Johnson, Robert S. May, Larry D. May and Phillip May; 10 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Lee May; an infant daughter, Mary Ella May; a brother, Joe B. Farris; a half brother, Eugene Farris; and a great-grandson, Dylan May.
Her parents were John A. Farris and Mary Ella Davis Farris.

Thomas Harold Belt, 84, of St. Louis, Mo., formerly of Marion died Sunday, March 15, 2009 at his home.
He was retired from Chrysler in St. Louis after 41 years. He was a member of of United Auto Workers Local 136, member of Bigham Masonic Lodge No. 256 and attended First Baptist Church of Lemay.
Survivors include his wife of almost 64 years, Edwina Phillips Belt of St. Louis; daughters, Carol D. Belt of St. Peters, Mo., and Marilyn B. Smith of St. Louis; granddaughter, Jennifer S. and husband Will Weltman of Chicago, Ill.; sister, Frankie F. Cook of Marion; brother, Robert Bruce and wife Sue Belt of Marion; and nieces and nephews.
Belt was preceded in death by his parents, Frank J. and Myrtle Thomas Belt.

Helen Guess, 79, of Princeton, Ky., died at 3:09 p.m., Sunday, March 15, 2009 at her residence.
She was a retired business owner of Guess Trucking Cont., and a member of Central Presbyterian Church in Princeton.
Survivors include one son, Dr. C.W. and wife Stephanie Guess of Union City, Tenn.; one daughter, Serieta and husband Johnny Jaggers of Caldwell County; five grandchildren, J.J. Griggs, Bryan Jaggers, Greg Guess, Eric Guess and Kate Guess; and seven great grandchildren, Libby Griggs, Abby Griggs, Maggy Griggs, Brittney Dearing, Joby Jaggers, Jacey Jaggers and Jenna Jaggers.

Dr. W. Leslie Chapman, 82 of Henderson died at 12:45 p.m., Friday, March 13, 2009, at Hermitage Care and Rehabilitation Center in Owensboro.
He was a retired United Methodist minister and past superintendent of Henderson District United Methodist Church. One of his first assignments as a young pastor was in Tolu, where Chapman developed lifelong friendships with church members and their families.
He served 12 pastorates in the Kentucky Conference, during his career. He was a graduate of Asbury College and Vanderbilt School of Divinity and held an honorary doctorate degree from Kentucky Wesleyan College.
Survivors include one daughter, Marilyn White and her husband John, of Falmouth, Ky.; one son, Dr. Scott Chapman and his wife, Mary Anne of Henderson; one brother, Ron Chapman of Henderson; five grandchildren; and one niece and one nephew.
Funeral services were Monday at First United Methodist Church in Henderson with Rev. Gary Chapman, his nephew, officiating. Burial was at Fernwood Cemetery in Henderson.

John A. Rose, 69, of Marion died Monday, March 9, 2009 at Crittenden County Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was a hospital equipment service technician, a member and deacon of Marion Baptist Church.
Rose was a U.S. Army veteran.

Carl Odell Cobb, 81, of Paducah died Friday, Feb. 27, 2009 at his residence.
He was an active member and trustee of Pinckneyville Baptist Church where he was proud to be the Sunday morning greeter.
Cobb was yard superintendent for 33 years at CC Metals and Alloys of Calvert City. He was a hunter and lifetime active and honorary member of Calvert City Gun Club where he held various championship shooting titles. He was also a Kentucky Colonel and served in the U.S. Navy as a drill sergeant.

Beverly Yvonne Walker, 57, of Smithland, died March 1, 2009, at Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Calvert City.
She was a member of the World Wide Church of God.

Genetta Fay Fulks, 89, of Marion died Monday, March 2, 2009 at Crittenden County Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was a retired sales clerk.
Fulks is survived by her daughters, Ginger Phillips of Marion, Glenda Leet of Providence and Theresa Miller of Sarasota, Fla.; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and one nephew, Danny Timmons of Marion.

Franklin Chandler Hardesty, 72, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009.

Dallas Dick Stallion, 86, of Leesburg, Fla., died Monday, Feb. 16, 2009 at Cornerstone Hospice House in Leesburg.
Stallion was born April 15, 1922 in Sheridan. He retired as a hoist man for Island Creek Coal Company in Morganfield. He served as sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II, was a life member of the Masonic Lodge of Marion and was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel in 1991. Stallion was a member of Southpointe Baptist Church in Leesburg.
Survivors include his wife for over 61 years, Naomi Fritts Stallion of Leesburg; daughters, Charlotte Stallion Gillott of Sarasota, Fla., Dr. Brenda Stallion-Barkley and husband Stephen of New Hope, Penn.; one son, William “Bill” Stallion and wife Diane of Grand Rivers; a sister, Dorothy Stallion Finnegan of Southbury, Conn.; two grandchildren, Kristal Stallion Noles and Sabrina Stallion Hanson; and three great-grandchildren, Daphne, Amella and Phoebe.

Elder William E. Hunt, 96, of Crittenden County died at 1:30 p.m., Friday Feb. 13, 2009 at his daughter’s home in Marion.
He was born Nov. 14, 1912 in Marion, the son of the late Harvey and Carrie Hunt of Marion. He was a long time member of Pleasant Hill Regular Baptist Church outside Marion where he served faithfully as pastor for 45 years. He was a 53-year member of the Bigham Lodge #256 F&AM where he served as chaplain for many years and was a member of the York Rite Bodies in Princeton. He was the past co-owner of Hunt Brothers Feed Store for 30 years and past member and chairman of both the Crittenden County Hospital Board and its Building Commission. He had been a long-time member of the Crittenden County Hospital Board and its building commission. Hunt was also a long-serving member of the Crittenden County Ministerial Association.
Survivors include his daughter, Linda L. Easley and son-in-law Joseph L. Easley of Marion; a son, John W. Hunt of Evansville; grandsons, Jae Easley of Lexington, S.C., Lee Easley of Knoxville, Tenn., and Chris Hunt of Lexington; granddaughter, Paige Timmons of Sumter, S.C.; great-granddaughter, Anna Easley of Pinewood, S.C.; and sisters, Lena Belt and Libby Abell of Marion; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 65 years, Virginia Lee Turley Hunt; his parents; four brothers, Maynard, John A., Tim and Shorty Hunt; and one sister, Dell Ramsey.

Harold E. Corley, 86, of Shelbyville, Ky., formerly of Marion, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009.
He was the son of the late Calvin and Zella Corley of Crittenden County and moved to Shelbyville in 1969. Corley was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army spending more than half his time in the European Theater. He was a member and Deacon of Fair Haven Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Lilly Corley; a son, Donald W. Corley of Shelbyville; a daughter, Beth Corley of Nashville; a brother, Maurice G. Corley of Marion; two grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Joann Chaney, 76 of Dycusburg died Monday, Feb. 9, 2009 in Alive Hospice Center in Nashville, Tenn.
She was retired as substitute postmaster for the Dycusburg Post Office and a former sales representative for Avon in the Crittenden County area. Chaney was a member of Dycusburg Baptist Church.

Charles Dennis Rorer Sr., 80, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009. He was a native of Marion, the son of L.D. and Leta Elnora Guess Rorer. He was a retired restaurant manger.

Oma L. Waid, 87, of Salem died Monday, Feb. 2, 2009 at Crittenden Hospital. She was a member of Cave Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Harold Wayne Driver. She was preceded in death by one brother and her parents, Andy and Ruth May Mirse Rotes.

Harvey Miller Hill, 84, of Mayfield died at 6 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009 at Mills Health and Rehab Center in Mayfield.
Hill was of the Baptist faith and a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Hilda Morefield Hill of Mayfield; two sons, Johnny Hill of Martinsville, Ind., and Jerry Hill of Las Vegas, Nev.; a step-daughter, Doris Bruce of Mayfield; four stepsons, Mark Vaden of Milburn, Ky., Gary Vaden of Mayfield, Allen Vaden of Spencerville, Ohio, and Jeff Vaden of Woodland Mills, Tenn.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Hill and his parents, Miley and Leona Miller Hill.

James Owens, 73, of Oswego, Ill., died Feb. 8, 2009 at Provena Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, Ill.
Owens was a member of American Legion Post 489 in Yorkville, Ill.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Owens of Oswego, Ill.; daughter, Patricia Owens of Paducah; sons, James E. Owens of Ledbetter and Daniel Owens of Oswego; step-daughter, Janet Madden; step-son, Robert Griffith of Detroit; sisters, Georgia Hensley of Grand Rivers and Jennie Lee Clark of Paducah; brother, Billy Owens of Smithland; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald DeWayne Owens; two sisters; and two brothers. He was the son of James Glenn and Lida Lou Crouch Owens.

Hughes
Margaret "Maurine" (Hayes) Hughes, 96, of Marion died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009 at St Mary’s Hospital in Evansville, Ind.
She was born in Sullivan County, Mo., the daughter of William Oscar Hayes and Dora Belle (Mairs) Hayes. Hughes graduated from Green City High School in Green City, Mo., in 1932, then began teaching in a one-room school. She taught school during the winter and went to college during the spring and summer terms at Northeast Missouri State College (now Truman University) in Kirksville, Mo. In 1946, she married Eugene Hughes and moved to his hometown, Marion.
Hughes taught school full-time in the Marion school system for one year. Later, she did a considerable amount of substitute teaching in Marion and the Crittenden County schools. She was a substitute teacher for over 25 years.
She was a charter member of Central Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Margaret and husband Darrell Burnam of Sturgis; granddaughter, Ann and husband Jeremy Bryant of Zionsville, Ind.; grandson, Bill and wife Angela Burnam of North Lauderdale, Fla.; a great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Bryant of Zionsville, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Hughes; two brothers; and two sisters.
Services are at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 14 at Central Baptist Church in Marion with burial in Mapleview Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5-9 p.m., Friday at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion, and from 9 a.m., until service time Saturday at the church.

Kenneth Wayne Deboe, 71, of Lake Station, Ind., formerly of Crittenden County, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2009.
He was a son of the late Paul P. DeBoe and Anna Ruth Rorer.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Martha L. DeBoe; two daughters, Carolyn and husband Dale Brust of Wannatah, Ind., and Sarah and husband Greg Woelk of Lake Station; six grandchildren, Shanya Meyer, Jeremy Horn, Patricia DeBoe, Jack Johnson, Gregory Woelk Jr., and Thomas Woelk; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert and wife Linda DeBoe and Donald and wife Dean BeBoe, all of Marion; a sister, Anna Pauline Lee of Eddyville; and seven half-brothers and sisters.

He was a retired farmer, member of Central Baptist Church in Marion and U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was retired from the maintenance department at the Whirlpool Corporation in Evansville, was a U.S. Army veteran and member of the Crayne Presbyterian Church.

Prentis “Pat” Evitts, 67, of Salem died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008 at Livingston Hospital.
He was a retired security guard.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Evitts of Salem; sons, Joey, Paul, Brock and Jimmie Evitts, all of Michigan and Tracy Evitts of Virginia; a daughter, Lori Plourde of Michigan; stepson, Charles Floyd of Arkansas; brothers, Danny and Bruce Evitts, both of Paducah; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was a Korean War veteran as well as a Kentucky Colonel. He was a retired group leader and assistant manager of Moore's Business Forms in Marion and Denton, Texas, and at Sam's Club in Nashville, Tenn. He was a deacon at Mexico Baptist Church.

Robert Fountain, 40, of Henderson died Saturday, Jan. 3 at Methodist Hospital in Henderson.
