Flanery, 102
Mae Flanery, 102, died Dec. 25, 2007 at Crittenden Hospital.
Flanery was the oldest member of Marion United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for 25 years. Flanery and her husband were the former owners and bookkeepers of the Standard Oil Company in Marion. She was a member of the Marion Woman’s Club, member of the Crittenden Hospital Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and was one of the last remaining widows of a World War I veteran left in Crittenden County. She was also the bookkeeper at Johnson’s Furniture for 25 years.
Survivors include her nephew, John Oxford of Victoria, Canada and several great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Flanery, who died May 8, 1972; her parents, John R. and Bell Beard Oxford; and four brothers, Russell, Paris, Ray and Escholl Oxford.
Funeral services were Friday December 28, 2007 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Garvey officiating. Burial was at Cave Hill Cemetery in Cave In Rock, Ill.
Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion was in charge of arrangements.

DeBoe
Funeral services for Calvin DeBoe, Jr. 74, of Salem, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5 at Boyd Funeral Home in Salem with Bro. Leslie Joyce officiating. Burial will be in Pinkneyville Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Friday.
DeBoe died at his home Jan. 1, 2008. He was born on Claude Kitchen's farm at Pinkneyville to Joseph Calvin Sr. and Elva Mae Fryar DeBoe. He was a retired coal miner and farmer. He was a charter member of Salem Methodist Church and a member of Pinkneyville Baptist Church, UMWA and the American Legion Post 217.
DeBoe served during the Korean War in the U.S. Navy, spending three birthdays at sea near the Korean shoreline. His ship was shelled twice in one week. He also served in the Kentucky National Guard for 12 years.
Survivors include his wife, Terry Lee Tilton DeBoe; his mother-in-law, Etta May Tilton; his children, Connie Yvonne (Joe) Riley of Eddyville, Donna Mae Kuester of Evansville, Ind., William Calvin (Tiffany) DeBoe of Marion and Charles David (Ann) DeBoe of Marion; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; foster sister, Geneva (Eugene) Threlkeld of Carrsville; foster brothers, Charles (Margaret) Fryar of Princeton and Billy Fryar of Eddyville; half-sisters, Sue (Abe) Jones of Antlers, Okla., Shirley (Cecil) Spangler of Christopher, Ill. and Linda (Walter) DeVilley of Fenton, Mo.; half-brother, J.E. (Bobbie) Brasher of Marion; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
DeBoe was preceded in death by one infant son; an infant granddaughter; his mother, Elva Mae Fryar; his father, Joseph Calvin DeBoe Sr.; foster parents, Omer and Ovelia Fryar; father-in-law, Dwight W. Tilton; and step-mother, Virginia DeBoe.


Dove
Sandra Dove, 53, of Paducah died at 3:24 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007 at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.
She was an employee of Western Baptist Hospital and attended Four Rivers Church.
Survivors include her husband, Wesley Dove; a daughter Angie (Nathan) Curnel of Marion; two sons, Michael Dove and Brice (Stacey) Doe, all of Ledbetter; a brother, Terry Lemon; and three grandchildren, Ashton Dove, Devin Dove and Riley Curnel.
Her parents were Marion Luther Lemon and Nellie Powell Lemon.
Funeral services were Friday, Dec. 28 at Lindsey Funeral Home in Paducah with Dr. Brad Henson officiating. Burial was at Clark's River Cemetery in Paducah.

Adams
Danny Eugene Adams, 47, of Marion died Friday, Dec. 21, 2007 at his home.
An active hunter and fisherman, he was owner and operator of Adams Logging and was active in the Girl Scouts for six years.
Survivors include his former wife, Marketta Adams; parents Charles and Edna Adams; daughters Pamela Sue Adams Kirk and Rebecca Danielle Nicole Adams, all of Marion; and two brothers, Jeremy Colby of Clarksville, Tenn., and Jason Colby of Bethamy, Okla.
Funeral services were Thursday, Dec. 27 at Boyd Funeral Home in Salem with Phillip Dunning officiating. Burial was at White’s Chapel Cemetery.

Hagstrom
Hazel LaVerne Hagstrom, 84, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007 in Katy, Texas where she and her husband had recently moved.
Hagstrom was born on Sept. 9, 1923 in Marion to Perce Ray Taylor and Gladys Enoch Taylor.
Survivors include her husband of 61 loving years, Walter Gus Hagstrom; sons, Garry (Teresa) Lee of Houston, Texas, and Steven (Stephanie) Erik of Woodinville, Wash.; grandchildren, William, Sarah, Eric, Brad, Lindsay and Brian.
Hagstrom retired in 1983 from Arkla, Inc. in Evansville. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Evansville, president of her Sunday school class and an active volunteer in the church library. She was a great seamstress and enjoyed knitting, needlework and reading. She loved music and was a Den Mother for Cub Scouts. She will be remembered for her special fondness of butterflies, her family said.
Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 29 in Katy, Texas with Rev. Jerry Thomas officiating. Entombment was at Memorial Oaks Cemetery Mausoleum in Houston.

Chittenden
Funeral services for James Carter Chittenden, 80, of Smithland were at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 3 at Boyd Funeral Home in Salem with Bro. Gary Murray officiating. Burial was at Good Hope Cemetery.
Chittenden died at 4:25 p.m., Monday, Dec. 31, 2007 at Salem Springlake Health and Rehabilitation Center in Salem.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include a daughter, Jamie Chittenden of Hendersonville, Tenn.; one sister, Katie Chandler of Salem; a brother, George Chittenden of Smithland; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Chittenden was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Newton and Linnie Ada Mitchell Chittenden; three sisters; and two brothers.

Asbridge
John W. Asbridge, 89, of Marion died at 1:53 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007 at Crittenden Hospital.
He was born March 31, 1918 in Tiline. Asbridge was a retired coal miner and attended Frances Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a son, John “Sonny” Asbridge of Marion; a daughter, Mary Ann Johnson of Hillsdale, Ill., a special friend, Elsie Stone of Crayne; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ida Belle Ward Asbridge; a brother, Don Earl Asbridge; and a grandson, Jeffery Koon.
Funeral services were Friday, Dec. 28 at Myers Funeral Home in Marion with Bro. Darrell “Butch” Gray officiating. Burial was at Mapleview Cemetery in Marion.

Fox
Roy Jasper Fox, 70, of Owensboro died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2007 at Owensboro Medical Health System.
Fox was born in Crittenden County Aug. 25, 1937 to the late Jasper and Edna Fox. He retired from Alcan Aluminum in 1995 after 22 years as a supervisor. He was a big UK basketball fan and enjoyed NASCAR and western movies. He loved gardening, and was a fan and supporter of Kentucky Wesleyan for more than 15 years, and an All American Club member. He was co-owner, along with his wife, of Fox Creations Inc., for 13 years.
He was preceded in death by a son, Hollis Gene Fox; and a sister, Jean Tabor.
He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Mona Fox; a son, Jeff (Geri) Fox of Owensboro; a daughter, Tina (Russell) Brewer of Madisonville; and daughter, Theresa Meadors of Marion; a step-son, Tommy (Tammy) Basham of Owensboro; a step-daughter, Tammy Brown of Owensboro; eight grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Tommy (Barb) Fox of St. Louis.
Funeral services were Friday, Dec. 28 at Glenn Funeral Home which included Masonic rites. Entombment was at Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Martin
Janie Martin, 65, of Princeton, died at 6:25 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007 at Caldwell County Hospital after a short illness. Martin was born Sept. 20, 1942 in Beckley, West Virginia.
Martin was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents Silas Pyatt and Maude Elizabeth Brown West, and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Martin; eight children, Tammy Glass and Charles (Vivian) Martin, both of Marion, Teresa Powell of Russellville, Terry Toms of Glasgow and Teana (Dwayne) Hale, Lisa (Sean) Schumacher, Victor (Cathy) Martin and Melissa (Greg) Williams, all of Princeton; 18 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister, Virginia Scott of Gilbertsville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Friday, Dec. 28 at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton with Rev. Eric Archuleta officiating. Burial was at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Kemper
Funeral services for Carleen Massey Kemper, 88, of Frankfort, Ky., formerly of Burna were at 1 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 3 at Boyd Funeral Home in Salem with Bro. James Oates officiating. Burial was in Dyer Hill Cemetery.
Kemper died at 11:30 a.m., Monday, Dec. 31, 2007 at Livingston Hospital. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Burna and a former member of First Baptist Church in Frankfort, the Pollyanna School Class and a senior adult organization “OASIS” (Older Adults Still In Service) of First Baptist Church. She was a retired accountant for state government in Kentucky.
Survivors include sisters-in-law, Willie Massey of Burna and Imogene Massey of Decatur, Ala.; an aunt, Alberta Beggs of Smithland; a niece, Bridget Borden of Decatur, Ala; a nephew, Jack C. Massey Jr. of Indianapolis; several cousins; and a special friend, Patti Parker Gaines of Owenton, Ky.
Pallbearers were Kenny Hardin, Barry Chittenden, Douglas Black, Garry Chittenden, Don Phillips, and Lewis Pruitt.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Garland W. Kemper; and brothers, Leon Massey and Jack C. Massey Sr.

Steward
Lorraine Marie Steward, 52, of Marion died at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Dec. 31, 2007 at her home.
She was catholic.
Survivors include a daughter, Jamie Bass of LeClaire, Iowa; a son, Bradley Bass of LeClaire, Iowa; her father, Richard Arlan Cloose of Marion; threee sisters, Linda Pullins of DeMotte, Ind., Jay Wouldema of DeMotte, Ind., and Carrie Dailey of Lafayette, Ind; two brothers, Richard Michael Cloose of Fair Oaks, Ind., and Joe Cloose of Lake Village, Ind.; and a granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her mother, May Belle Koshney Cloose.
A memorial Service will be at a later date. Myers Funeral Home in Marion was in charge of arrangements.

Lemon
Jim Lemon, 82, of Frisco, Texas, formerly of Marion, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007 at Frisco.
He was a retired electrical engineer for the City of Hamilton, Ohio.
Survivors include a son, Mark Lemon of Gunter, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Pickens Lemon; his parents, Gillian and Rosa M. Gibson Lemon; a brother, Roy Lemon; and two sisters, Rose Lee Croft and Velda Simpkens.
Funeral services were Friday Dec. 28 at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Mike Jones officiating. A private burial followed the service.

Brigance
Ruth Evelyn Brigance, 78, of Marion died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007 at Crittenden Hospital.
She was a member of Marion Second Baptist Church and the Order of Eastern Star 135.
Survivors include her husband, Clyde A. Brigance of Marion; a step-daughter, Charlotte Ann Bishelli of Colorado; and a nephew, Mike Hayes of Marion.
Brigance was preceded in death by her parents, Atchison Frazer and Stella May Fritts Hayes.
Graveside services were Friday, Dec. 21 at Mapleview Cemetery in Marion with Rev. Danny Starrick officiating. Eastern Star services were held prior to burial at the funeral home.

Betty Lee Jones, 76, of Burna died at 5:20 a.m., Monday, Dec. 17, 2007 at Livingston Hospital.
She is survived by two sisters, Lynn Scarbrough of Burna and Patricia Hopkins of Ledbetter; one brother, Jerry Scarbrough of Benton; and several nieces and nephews.
Jones was preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. Jones; a daughter, Debra Lynn Jones; a sister, Eula Belle Tramble; and a brother, David Scarbrough.
Graveside services were Wednesday, Dec. 19 at Oak Grove Cemetery with Rev. Allen Jones officiating.

Travis
Opal Rushing Travis, 69, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007 at Livingston Hospital.
She was a member of Glendale Baptist Church and Gideons International.
Survivors include her husband, Noble Travis of Marion; a son, David Scott of Marion; daughters Tina Crane of Florida and Tonya Utley of Morganfield; three brothers, Jimmy and Junior Rushing, both of Paducah, and Greg Crawford of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; three sisters, Ruth May of Paducah, Nancy Fern Jackson of Salem and Fay Tolley of Burna; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Travis was preceded in death by her parents, Coy Phillip and Rosa Lee Adams Rushing.

Chandler
Mary Katherine Newcom Chandler, 86, of Sturgis, died at 11:15 a.m., Thursday Dec. 13, 2007 at Crittenden Health & Rehab.
Chandler was a retired school teacher, life member of the VFW Auxiliary 5486 in Sturgis, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Marion for 55 years, a member of Baker Baptist Church for 35 years, and First Baptist Church in Sturgis for 20 years. During World War II, she worked at Servel in Evansville.
She is survived by two sons, Steven Chandler of Marion and Keith Chandler of Sturgis; two sisters, Elwanda McDowell of Marion and Janie Syers of High Ridge, Mo.; a brother, Glenn Newcom of Louisville; and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Rudolph Chandler; her parents, Joe and Wanda Marvel Newcom; three brothers, J.L. Newcom, Willard Newcom, and Delmer Newcom.
Funeral services were Saturday Dec. 15, 2007 at First Baptist Church in Sturgis with Rev. Don Phelps officiating. Burial was at Pythian Ridge Cemetery in Sturgis.

Ford
Harland “Bub” Ford, 79 of Benton, died at 10:10 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007 at his residence.
Ford was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. He was a member of Ironworker’s Local 782, a lifetime member of T.L. Jefferson Masonic Lodge F&AM 622, York Rite Bodies of Paducah, Rizpah Shrine Temple of Madisonville, Benton Chapter 305 Order of the Eastern Star and he was a Kentucky Colonel. Ford retired after 50 years as an ironworker and owner Harland E. Ford Construction Company, Inc.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Kathleen Miller Ford of Benton; a son, Terry L. Ford of Marion; three daughters, Kathy J. McCurry, Alice “Sam” Ford and Cheryl A. Spiceland all of Benton; a brother, Joe "Nook" Ford of Columbia, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilford Ford and Grover Ford; and one sister, Geneva Wienke. His parents were Ell Ford and Alice Lovett Ford.
Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 15 at Filbeck, Cann and King Funeral Home with Rev. George Culp and Rev. Mark Mohler officiating. Burial was at the Benton Cemetery.

Ablett
Eloise Head Ablett, 90, of Greenwood, Ind., formerly of Burna died at 3:45 p.m., Friday, Dec. 14, 2007 at Johnson County Hospital in Indiana.
She graduated from Murray State Teachers College and taught at a one-room school in Livingston County. She also retired from RCA payroll department in 1979 after 29 years of service.
Survivors include a son, James W. Ablett, Jr.; sisters, Mildred Woodall, Norma Wuster, Frances Arnold; a grandson, Shawn Finkbiner; granddaughters, Nicole Kremp, Denise Singh, Debbie Hamilton; great-grandchildren, Ashley Kremp, Shivanti Singh, Daniel Hamilton; many nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews.
Ablett was born July 29, 1917 in Livingston County, the daughter of Grover C. Head Sr. and Marjorie Head. She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Ablett Sr., who died in 2002; and her brothers Rhea Head, Hayden Head, Vernon Head and Grover C. Head Jr.; sisters, Melvia Farmer, Mary Head and Beulah Mae Davidson.
Funeral services were at Wednesday, Dec. 19, at Boyd Funeral Home in Salem with Rev. Mike Grimes officiating. Burial was at Cedar Grove Methodist Church Cemetery.

Martin brothers
Joint funeral services for Donald Brandon Martin, 18, and Joseph Andrew Martin, 16, both of Smithland, were held at 1 p.m., Wednesday Dec. 12, 2007 at Boyd Funeral Home in Salem with Rev. Tim Fouts officiating.
Burial was at Birdsville Cemetery.
Donald and Joseph Martin died at 10:45 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007 in an automobile accident between Burna and Smithland. Joseph was a junior at Livingston Central High School and Donald was employed by Higdon Furniture in Paducah.
They are survived by their mother and step-father, Darlene Newell and Mike Freeman of Smithland; father and step-mother, Donald and Dianne Martin of Marion; sister Brianna Martin of Smithland; step-sisters, Heather Loveless of Paducah and Anessia Loveless of Marion; a step-brother, Andrew Loveless of Marion; a niece, Alexandra Loveless of Carrsville; paternal grandparents, Iva Nell Martin of Marion and the late Donald Ellis Martin; maternal grandparents, Leona Belt of Burna and the late Lawrence Davis; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Coleman
Paula Lee Coleman, 53, of Morganfield, formerly of Marion, died Dec. 9, 2007 at Methodist Hospital in Morganfield.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two daughters, Ginny Ginn of Princeton and Niki Coleman of Marion; a sister, Linda Kay Lynch of Tiline; a brother, Burnice Kirk of Marion; grandchildren, Hattie and Maggie Ginn of Princeton and Nathan Faith of Marion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, G.B. and Virginia Yates Kirk; three brothers, James, Don and Paul Kirk; and a sister, Carolyn Chandler.

Ryan
Billie Mae Ryan, 79, of Princeton died at 6:20 p.m. Thursday Dec. 6, 2007 at her home.
She was a homemaker. Ryan was born Feb. 7, 1928 in Crittenden County to the late William Golell and Alanta Railey Travis.
Services were Sunday, Dec 9, 2007 at Morgan's Funeral Home with Rev. Dean Ray officiating. Burial was at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Princeton.
Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Lonnie W. Ryan; two sons, Donald Ryan of Princeton, and Dwight Ryan of Eddyville; two daughters, Brenda Knight of Paducah and Marsha Oliver of Princeton; one brother, Newman Travis of Marion; three sisters, Shirley Byford of Marion, Betty Jane Garner of Augusta, Ga., and Ernestien Scott of Hobart, Ind.; her step-mother, Ada Travis Slaton of Morganfield; six half sisters, Helen (Ken) Redd of Plainsfield, Ind., Linda Foster of Evansville, Patricia (Russell) Bethe of Etherfield Ind., Greta (Glenn) Redings of Paducah, Judy Adams of Dawson Springs; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Johnson
Mary Alice Camp Johnson, 88, of Fort Wayne, Ind., died Wednesday Dec. 5, 2007 at Golden Years Homestead.
Born on Dec. 31, 1918 in Carrsville, she worked as an elementary school teacher for over 20 years in Missouri and Kentucky. Johnson donated her time serving as a 4-H leader, a worthy Matron of the Carrsville Eastern Star Chapter and she was a supporter of other Carrsville community projects. She also served as one of the founding members of the Carrsville Homemakers Club and was a member of the Salem Christian Church.
After graduating from Smithland High School, Johnson earned a bachelor's degree from Murray State University.
Surviving are her two sons, Ralph (Betty) Camp of Reno Nev., and Noel Ellis “Eli” (Lynette) Johnson of Fort Wayne, Ind.; two grandchildren, Daniel (Diana) Camp of Auburn, Wash., and Jennifer (Rick) Saake of Reno, Nev.; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday, Dec. 10 at Boyd Funeral Directors in Salem with Rev. Eric Riddle officiating. Burial was at Carrsville Cemetery.

Judy M. Belt, 55, of Marion died Nov. 28, 2007. She was a member of Marion General Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Harlan Belt; two sons, Sean Belt and Chad Belt, both of Marion; a brother, James R. “Butch” McDowell of Salem; and a grandson, Ryan Belt of Marion.

Cruce
Mina Evelyn Cruce, 91, of Marion died Nov. 28, 2007 at Crittenden Hospital. She was a member of Frances Presbyterian Church.
Cruce is survived by three sons, John and Don Cruce both of N. Judson, Ind., and Whitt Cruce of Bloomington, Ind.; a sister, Mary Helen Crouch of Evansville, Ind.; brothers, Curt Whitt of Colorado Springs, Colo., and A.L. "Dick" Whitt, Jr. of Richmond, Ky.; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Ford Cruce; her parents, Allie and Alzie Whitt; a daughter, Jo Ann Cruce; and two brothers.
Funeral services were Saturday at Gilbert Funeral Home with with Rev. Cortis Hill officiating. Burial was at Frances Cemetery.

Yates-Adams
Laurie Ann Yates-Adams, 41, of Marion died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007 in Hopkins County.
Survivors include her husband Ricky Adams of Marion; a daughter, Jennifer Epley; a step-son, Stan Adams; a grandson, Collin Epley, all of Marion; a brother, Thomas O’Neil of Nortonville; and her mother, Sharon Yates of Manitou.
She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Yates.
Funeral services were Sunday Dec. 2 at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion. Burial was at Hurricane Cemetery.

Allcock
Johnny Ray Allcock, 49, of Marion died at 6:50 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 28 at his home.
He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local No. 181 at Paducah and a member of Central Baptist Church in Burna.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa Allcock of Hampton; a son, Derrick Allcock of Tiline; a brother, Ricky Allcock of Marion; three sisters, Phyllis Rushing and Toni Weldon of Marion and Cindy Taber of Eddyville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Devin Allcock; his parents, John and Georgia Travis Allcock; and a brother.
Funeral services were Saturday at Myers Funeral Home with Rev. James Oates officiating. Burial was at Sugar Grove Cemetery.

Eanes
Robert Kent Eanes Sr., 42, of Marion died at 9:50 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Sisco Chapel Road.
Survivors include his wife, Connie Eanes; two sons, Robert and Gary Eanes, all of Princeton; a daughter, Tiffany Eanes of Princeton; and a brother, Joseph Jackson Eanes of Georgia.
A memorial service was held Tuesday at North Livingston Baptist Church in Hampton. Myers Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

LaRue
Funeral services for William Douglas LaRue Sr., 92, of Salem will be at 2 p.m., Friday at Boyd Funeral Home in Salem with Rev. John East and Rev. Mark Combs officiating.
LaRue, who operated West End Service Station in Salem for 56 years, died at 10:14 a.m., Monday, Dec. 3, 2007 at Crittenden Hospital.
He was a member of Salem Baptist Church.
Survivors include his sons, Eric and Pete LaRue, both of Salem; a brother, Dan LaRue of Salem; a granddaughter, Mary Beth Pyle of Hopkinsville; and five nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta LaRue; and a sister, Jimmie Miller. His parents were Jim and Mable Pace LaRue.
Burial will follow the funeral Friday at Salem Cemetery.

Clarke
Diane Clarke, 59, of Cordova, Tenn., formerly of Marion, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2007 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. She was the wife of former Marion Baptist pastor Dr. Darrell Clarke.
Clarke taught school for 15 years. She was a graduate of Ripley High School in Tennessee and graduated from Union University.
She was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church where her husband is now minister in Pastoral Care.
Funeral services were scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday in the Chapel of Bellevue Baptist Church. Burial was planned for Memory Hill Gardens.
She was preceded in death by her father, Barney Long.
Clarke is survived by her husband, Darrell; a son David (Chasity) Clarke of Martinsville, Ind.; daughters, Deborah and Dawn Clarke of Cordova; mother, Nancy Long of Ripley.

Elvis Gene “Pete” Hall, 50, of Salem died at 12:46 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007 at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.
Survivors include one brother, Jay D. “Dink” Null of Marion and six nieces and nephews.
His parents were Bill and Wilma Null Hall. He was also preceded in death by two brothers.

Gordon
Carolyn Gordon, 70, of Bowling Green died at 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007 at Bowling Green Medical Center.
She was born in Marion on Dec. 27, 1936, the daughter of the late Samuel H. and Mary Ruth Stephens Morrow. She was retired from Thomas Industries of Hopkinsville and was a member of the Elkton Baptist Church.
Gordon is survived by her husband of 36 years, Paul Gordon of Bowling Green; one son, Kevin Belt of Russellville; two daughters, Donna Bond of Bowling Green and Deanie Wall of Clarksville; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Nov. 24 at Elkton Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Tracy officiating. Burial was at the Todd County Meadow Haven.

Jacqulin Hornback Hrapeck, 46, of Marion died at 5 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007 at her home.
She was a member of Union Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Michael Kimsey of Marion; brothers, Rocky Hornback of Sandy Hook, Ky., and Glenn Davidson of Benton; two sisters, Vaughnel Bebout of Fredonia and Linda Ramage of Marion; and one grandchild, Madison Kimsey.

John Haddon, 65, of Marion died at 2:45 a.m., Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007 at his home.
Survivors include a brother, Richard Haddon of Lakewell, Fla.

Brian Keith “Pudgy” Turner, 49, of Henderson died at 12:10 a.m., Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007 at his home.

Shelby
Albert Lyon Shelby, 83, of Louisville, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007, at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville.
A native of Marion, he graduated from Western Kentucky University after serving his country during World War II in the U.S Army. Shelby fought in Europe and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a retired salesman and worked for many years as a house painter and handyman.
Shelby is survived by his wife of 64 years, the former Marjorie Wright; his children Penny Shelby of Cleveland, Ohio, Melinda Shelby (Scott White) of Atlanta, Ga., Don (Liz) Shelby of Pleasureville, Ky., and Ellen Mattingly (Rick Knapp), of Cleveland; his brother, Evan (Emily) Shelby of Marion; and a host of grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday, Nov. 12 at Highlands Funeral Home in Louisville.

Bobby L. Hamby, 65, of Marion died at 4:05 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007 at Crittenden Hospital.
He was member of Maranatha Baptist Church in Salem.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Hamby of Marion; a daughter, Miranda Kimberlin of Salem; a brother, Phillip “Woody” Hamby of Providence; four sisters, Paula McGill of Princeton, Vivian Hurley of Marion, Jeannie Dulin of Eddyville and Robyn Wilson of Morganfield; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leamon and Imogene Driver Hamby; two brothers, Ollie and Steve Hamby; a sister, Shirley Kirk; and a granddaughter, Alexis Paige.

Phelps
Curtis Eugene Phelps, 87, of Marion died Monday, Nov. 26, 2007 at Hardin County Hospital in Rosiclare, Ill.
Born in Providence on May 4, 1920, he came to Marion after serving in the U.S. Army from 1943-1946.
From 1946-1965, he sold groceries for the Hulman Company of Evansville, Ind. From 1965-1984, he was employed by Witte Hardware Company of St. Louis. For 50 years, until his retirement, Phelps was the song director for the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Marion. He leaves many friends at the church as well as the Senior Citizen Center of Marion
Survivors include a daughter, Melinda Sue Phelps (Mickey) Walker of Cave In Rock, Ill.; a sister, Nelda Phelps of Marion; a brother, Rev. Earl Phelps of Adamsville, Tenn.; a daughter-in-law, Vanda Marvel Phelps of Henderson; grandchildren, Matthew Phelps Walker of Henderson, Mikilyn Walker Schutt of Johnson City, Ill.; and Ronda Phelps, Rita Phelps Herron, Regina Phelps Gish and Rebeccah Clement all of Henderson; great-grandchildren, Chasity Phelps, Stephen Herron, Kaitlyn Schutt, Andrew Herron Emily Herron, Grant Gish, Tyler Phelps, Aalilyah Glenn, Daelyn Glenn and twins Trinity and Taetum Clement; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Grey Phelps; his parents, Rev. G.F. and Daisy Scott Phelps; a son, Ronald Eugene Phelps; a brother, Rev. J.D. Phelps; and two sisters, Edna Herrin and Ruthie Mae.

Robertson
Mildred James Robertson, 94, of Siloam Springs, Ark., died November 16, 2007, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital in Siloam Springs.
Born March 4, 1913, in Paducah, she was the daughter of George James and Nealie Johnson James. She married Clifton A. Robertson in Morganfield on May 29, 1938. The couple sold real estate for Walter Gray Realty for many years. For the past 25 years, she had quilted for herself and many of her friends. She was of the Baptist faith.
Robertson was preceded in death by her husband in 1979. Survivors include two daughters, Janette Devor of Siloam Springs, Ark., and Kayneal (Bob) Robinson of West Siloam Springs, Okla.; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007 at Wasson Memorial Chapel in Siloam Springs with Pastor George McFerron officiating. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery at Siloam Springs.

Vesta E. Wheeler Brown, 99, of Marion died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007 at Red Bank Nursing Home in Henderson.
She was a member of Unity General Baptist Church at Crayne.
Survivors include, her sons, James D. Wheeler of Marion, Leroy Wheeler of Whiting, Ind.; a daughter, Joyce Green of Henderson; a sister, Margaret Akers of Marion; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her parents, P.W. Hughes and Maggie Sheridan; her husband, Henry Wheeler; a son, William Wheeler; two brothers; a sister; a granddaughter, Rhonda Sue Greene; and a grandson, Michael Browning.

He was a member of Mexico Baptist Church and Frances Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Vineta Hunter of Marion; a son, Jerry Hunter of Chandler, Ind.; two brothers, Herman Hunter of Hopkinsville and Ford Hunter Jr. of Hobart, Ind.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Robert Gary "Bobby" Lynch, 54, of High Ridge, Mo., formerly of Marion, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2007 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in St. Louis.
Survivors include his wife, Monda Lynch of High Ridge; his mother, Irene Lynch of Marion; two sons, Robert Lynch and Jeff Belt, both of High Ridge; three daughters, Phyllis Reese of High Ridge, Beverly Wilson of Paducah and Carla McKinney of Morganfield; six brothers, Roger, Frankie and Tommy Lynch all of High Ridge, James “Buddy,” Johnny and Jackie Lynch all of Marion; a sister, Patricia Knight of Marion; two half brothers, John and Michael Lynch both of Dalton, Ga.; a half sister, Geraldine Clark of Shawneetown, Ill.; and nine grandchildren.
Lynch was preceded in death by his father, Junior Lynch; a sister, Joyce Clark; and grandparents Luke and Mae Hackney.

Earl Wayne Manus, 69, of Crittenden County died at 1:44 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007 at his residence.
He was a military veteran, member of the VFW and was a retired truck driver.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Dyer Manus; two sons, Tony (Shonta) Manus of Princeton and Marc (Crystal) Manus of Murray; a brother, Jesse Manus of Princeton; a sister, Hilda Hobby of Caldwell County; and seven grandchildren, Jase Manus, Nikki Manus, Brandon Manus, Dylan Manus, Breanna Manus, Chaz Manus and Zach Manus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Virginia Stephenson Manus.

Scarbrough died at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007 at her home. She is survived by her children, Betty Jones of Burna, Patricia Hopkins of Ledbetter, Jerry Scarbrough of Benton, and Lynn Scarbrough of Burna; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Scarbrough was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Scarbrough; a son, David Scarbrough; a daughter, Eula Bell Tramble; her parents, Fred and Lavina Montgomery Kirk; one granddaughter, Debra Jones; one grandson, Jeff Tramble; three infant sons; two brothers; and three sisters.


Marsh
Gwen Preston Marsh, 75, of Ashland, Ky. died Monday, Nov. 19, 2007 at Kingsbrook Lifecare Center in Ashland.
Marsh was born Oct. 20, 1932, in Boyd County, Ky, the daughter of the late Golden "Pat" and Iva Greene Preston.
She was married 19 years to Charles Dexter Marsh, who preceded in her death in 1989. She was a homemaker and personal caregiver. Marsh was a member of Abundant Life Fellowship Church, where she played piano and taught Sunday school. She was very active in local organizations such as the Boyd County Senior Center, Ashland Kiwanis, Meals on Wheels, Boyd County Heart Association and Boyd County Homemakers.
She is survived by five children, Alice (Dan) Arterburn of Old Hickory, Tenn.; Valerie Suzanne (Hutch) Goad of Marion; Charles Basil (Carla) Marsh of Birdseye, Ind.; Donald G. (Kathy) Marsh of Poquoson, Va.; and Linda Gail (David) Villarreal of Monterey, Calif.; a sister, Gail Preston Brown of Grayson, Ky.; a brother, William "Ed" (Elsie) Preston of Frankfort, Ky.; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services to will be held at 2 p.m., Friday Nov. 23, at the Neal Funeral Home in Catlettsburg, Ky. Marsh’s brother-in-law, Pastor Don Marsh, and her son, Pastor Donald G. Marsh, will officiate. Burial will follow at Ashland Cemetery.

Ruth Hayden Hawkins, 94, of Madisonville died at 11:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007 at Shemwell Nursing Home in Providence.
She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church in Madisonville.
Survivors include one son, Charles S. Hawkins of Madisonville; four grandchildren, Ruth Ann (Donnie) Farmer of Marion, Susan (Mitch) Gooch and Tom and Charles G. Hawkins; and six great-grandchildren.
Hawkins was preceded in death by her husband, Smith Hawkins; her parents, Fenis and Eliza Jane Nance Epley; her brother, James B. Epley; and a granddaughter, Sherry L. Hawkins.

Brandy Cowan Gordon, 33, of Pekin, Ill., died at her home Tuesday Nov. 6, 2007.
She was the daughter of Harry “Squeeky” and Joann Cowan of Sturgis.
Gordon is survived by her husband, Steve Gordon of Pekin and her children, Cody, Stevie, Courtney and Mikayla; her grandmother, Judy Cowan of Marion; sisters, Angela Vance of Tennessee, Jennifer Byerley of Indiana; and a brother, Jason Cowan of Sturgis.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 17 at First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Alexander; and her daughter, Nancy Smith. Her parents were Burnie and Birdie Stone.

Ferguson
Paulitt Ferguson of Citrus Heights, Calif., died on Oct. 18, 2007 in California.
She was born March 10, 1954 in Illinois and graduated from Providence High School in 1972 and from nursing school in Madisonville.
She worked as a licensed practical nurse for over 20 years and served in the U.S. Air Force.
Ferguson was a member of the Victory Baptist Church in Providence.
Survivors include a son, Michael Hehir Jr., of Mt. Clements, Mich.; two daughters, Michelle David of Citrus Heights, and Christina Smith of Roseville, Mich.; her mother, Helen Ferguson of Providence; five grandchildren; and a brother, Joe Ferguson of Spring Creek, Nev.

Lyle E. Workman, 71, of Marion died at 11:05 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007 at Livingston Hospital.
He was a lifelong farmer.
Workman is survived by his wife of 51 years, Vivian Belt Workman of Marion; three sons, Larry Workman of Dry Ridge, Ky., and Barry and Gary Workman, both of Marion; a daughter, Sharon Smith of Marion; two brothers, Ted and Sidney Workman, both of Marion; three sisters, Nancy Byarley, Pearl Byarley and Betty Belt, all of Marion; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin P. and Leona Johnson Workman.

Roy Lee Ramage, 44, of Ledbetter died at 2:45 a.m., Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007 at his residence. He was of the pentecostal faith.
Survivors include his mother, Edna Mae Ramage; a sister, Sue Peach; and a niece, Shavonna Peach-Bullock, all of Ledbetter.
He was preceded in death by his father, Erlin Ramage; and a sister, Sharon Ramage.

Bonnie Catherine Jones, 72, of Eddyville died at 12:38 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007 at the home of her daughter in Gleason, Tenn.
Jones was a retired manager of Palisades Resort in Lyon County and was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church there.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ray Jones, and her parents, Floyd Henry O’Bryan and Elsie Rachel Downing O’Bryan.

She worked in retail sales for many years at Hick’s Dollar Store in Marion.

Lona M. Kinnis, 85, of Hobart, Ind., died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007 at St. Anthony In-Patient Hospice in Crown Point, Ind.
She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Hobart and formerly a very active member of Grace United Methodist Church in Glen Park, Ind.
Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn (Anthony) Cardenas of Portage, Ind.; two sons, Gary (Debbie) Kinnis of Jamestown, N.Y., and Ted (Marcia) Kinnis of Munster, Ind.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dottie Martin of Highland, Ind., and Jane Retke of California; and several nieces and nephews.
Kinnis was preceded in death by her husband, Kavid Kinnis; her parents, William H. Davis and Leah Owen Davis; three brothers, William L. Davis, Delvas H. Davis and James R. Davis; and one sister, Margaret Cassell.

He was a member of Smithland First Baptist Church, an avid hunter and retired from Carbide of Calvert City.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Wanda Doom of Smithland; three daughters, Debra (Joe) Thomason of Smithland, and Sandra (Danny) Sewell of Calvert City and Pam (Mitchell) Thompson of Gilbertsville; a son, Tim (Michelle) Doom of Benton; five brothers, Louie Doom, Teddy Doom and Hugh Doyle Doom, all of Grand Rivers, and Holland Doom and Willis Doom, both of Smithland; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Virgil N. Guess, 95, of Louisville, formerly of Marion, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007.
He was a retired employee of Sperry-New Holland, a methodist and a Kentucky Colonel.
Guess is survived by his wife, Marie Richardson Guess; three sons, Foster (Jo-Ann) and Harry (Donna) Guess of Louisville, and Jim (Glenda) Guess of Henderson; seven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Nov. 7 at Foreman’s Funeral Home in Jeffersontown with graveside services later in the day at Hurricane Cemetery near Tolu.

Survivors include her husband, William E. World War II veteran Norris Martin, 85, of Grand Rivers died at 10 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007 at Livingston Hospital.
Martin had been a member of the invasion of Normandy during the Second World War.
He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and the American Legion Burna Post 217.
Norris is survived by three daughters, Nancy Mitchell and Marilyn O’Bryan, both of Grand Rivers, and Teresa Croft of Salem; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Julia Lee Thompson McIntyre, 67, of Hampton died at 7 a.m., Friday, Oct. 26, 2007 at her residence.
She was employed by the federal government for 21 years in many agencies in the personnel department. An avid historian and genealogist, McIntyre was a life member of the Livingston County Genealogical Society and a still life painter.
Survivors include her husband of 31 years, William McIntyre of Hampton; a brother Ted (Jean) Thompson of Hampton; a sister, Janice (Billy) Christiansen of Hampton; four nieces, Margaret Vanover, Jennifer L. Juanita H. Mitchell, 86, of Clay died Saturday, Oct. 20 , 2007 at Colonial Terrace Nursing Home in Sebree.
She was born in Clay to the late Roy and Mina Holland. She was valedictorian of her senior class at Clay High School and attended Western Kentucky University. Mitchell was a member of the Webb Memorial United Methodist Church in Clay for more than 75 years and she was a school teacher at Wheatcroft, Clay and Webster County for more than 20 years. She had also worked at Farmers Bank in Clay.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, George Earl of Clay, one daughter, Angie Newton of Bowling Green; a son, Judge William E. Mitchell of Clay; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
